Buyer Beware! Last December, I bought the Nina double-reclining sofa from Macy’s South Lake. It was a closeout. With a closeout, I know I take what I see with no guarantee. The price was very low – about $100 less than if I had bought it new. I was well aware that I could experience unforeseen mechanical problems. Risk accepted! The sofa was collected by an independent delivery company arranged by Macy’s and arrived right on time. The delivery team set the sofa up and all was well…….until 6 months later when we heard a loud POP followed by a sizzle and crackle – not to mention the circuit breaker was thrown. The automatic reclining feature shut down – in the fully reclined position, no less. Upon inspection, we discovered that the cord plugging into the electrical outlet had been previously cut. A rudimentary splice had been attempted followed by wrapping the mess in a strip of scotch tape. All of this was tucked under the sofa so we had no occasion to see it until it failed. The cord is quite lengthy and it took several pulls to expose the fire hazard that had been delivered and installed in our living room by Macy’s. Astonished, I contacted Macy’s where the piece was purchased. My assumption was that the staff would be immediately apologetic and more than willing to fix the problem that could have potentially burned down us, our house, our pets, and everything we owned. That was not the case. I spoke with a couple different sales staff – one of which was responsible for the actual sell. No one would take responsibility for making the repair. Unfortunately the problem was passed to an unreachable district manager who would “do his best” to help us in “several weeks”. Meanwhile, I had a useless, fully reclined sofa in my house. I have 5 pieces of furniture from Macy’s and for each of them, except for the closeout, I purchased the “Worry No More” policy. I used it once on a sofa that failed almost 10 years ago. Otherwise, I haven’t needed it. I was, and still am floored that Macy’s South Lake sales staff and regional manager took no responsibility for correcting an issue that could have easily caused a terrible fire at my home. How dare they sell and deliver to me a sofa with a cord that had been obviously cut, spliced, and haphazardly wrapped in SCOTCH tape. Ridiculous! The happy ending is that I contacted the corporate office and explained the mess and fire hazard that had been delivered and installed in my home. The corporate office contacted me almost immediately and fixed the problem. It’s a real shame that it had to require intervention by an executive at the corporate office to correct a problem that should have been an embarrassment to everyone working in the furniture department at Macy’s South...
Read moreI went to go return some shoes at Macy a cashier there named Stella who had an attitude from the beginning but I didn't worry about it at 1st cuz I was there to return some shoes and I told myself the quicker I can return my shoes the quicker I don't have to deal with her attitude who at first didn't even want to return my shoes but then after talking to the manager. THE Manager okayed because they were able to use my credit card that I use the purchase of shoes to find the receipt so Stella told me she needed to have my credit card that I purchased I have my hand out trying to hand it to her she looked away so I laid the the card on the counter and when she get ready she said okay can you hand me the card now and I told her I already had the card here on the counter waiting for you and she asked me again can you pick up the card and hand it to me I told her I can't pick up the card because my nails would allow me to and she just came unglued just yelling at me and getting loud Oh you want me to pick up the card for u, u want me to pick up the card I'm not going to pick up your card. Because I now know that Stella is an idiot!! And definitely should not be working with customers or even around people. I told her I don't have time for her and ask the standing next to her could she finish my transaction and she said okay and she did it without an attitude. So if you're going to Macy's shoes and you see the name tag Stella walk away she has no customer service skills she's not professional she is not the kind of person Macy's should have representing their store she had a very...
Read moreAfter standing at the perfume counter for a while. No one seemed as though they wanted to help me. I asked for help from the adjacent service counter where there were 4 women standing and was told that it was a woman on the other side of the counter who could help me. I approached the woman at the other side of the counter and she was helping a gentleman already. After she was done with him I asked her to help and she stated that she was a vendor and only handled certain products. So back to counter 2 where the 4 women were standing I asked for help again 2 of the ladies were helping guest 2 weren't. I knew what I had gone in for and grabbing my product would have taken 2 minute's. So I waited another 8 minutes. Then I asked the vendor to recommend a product and she had me smell a few and I found one that I liked. But I still came in for 1 particular item. After I decided to purchase a perfume from the vendor she then offered to help me with the 1 thing I came in for. She grabbed it for me and I purchased 2 bottles of perfume. I love both scents. My main concern is that I waited for a total of 35 minutes to get something that would have taken 2 minutes. Maybe it was because I had on jogging pants and a sweatshirt I didn't appear as though I was going to spend nearly $300 dollars on perfume that day. Idk. Moral of the story, I sometimes go underdressed purposely you never know what people are willing to buy if your customer service sucks. The best content is inside the book...
