I’ve been going to this gym for a while and while I used to love it I unfortunately don’t anymore. I have a couple thoughts. 1 - I have no idea why we pay more for “select”? Must be just location because I’ve been to less expensive crunches which were much nicer. Equipment is constantly broken and takes a while to be repaired (cough cough those 3 stairmasters). The bathrooms are plain gross. The gym floors are uneven. I go to wipe down equipment and the paper towel dispensers are constantly empty. I could go on but you get the gist. 2 - it has gotten so busy it’s absurd. I’ve tried going at different times and I’m still at a loss. There has to be some sort of membership cap to make sure a gym still has room for its members? Unless it’s purely about just making as much money as possible which I’m sure is the case. 2.5 - on the note of busyness, within the last month their coaching staff has tripled in size. all of the group classes already take up enough space as is, but I can’t fathom why they are in need of (bare minimum) 10 coaches on staff. It just seems excessive in an already over crowded gym.
I’m genuinely not trying to be a Karen. I understand the industry is crazy and only getting busier. And I’ve tried to be understanding. But it’s getting to a point where management is overlooking things for the sake of a profit. I’m struggling to convince myself to keep my membership. I know there’s not much the immediate gym staff can do about this, but perhaps this review could be sent up the line of command and crunch would consider opening another location in Charleston. Even if it was put right across the street I’m sure it’d still...
Read moreLove the equipment and the classes. The staff does need to visit the locker rooms more often to check that everything is stocked. Toilet paper and paper towels are always out in the women's locker room. Don't love that my son just walked out of the childcare room and no one noticed. My husband turned around while running on the treadmill and our son was standing right there behind him. I hate to even think how badly he could've been hurt if he'd stepped onto the treadmill or gotten hit by a weight...or walked out the front door. When my husband went back in there, no one had even noticed he was gone and it had been a good 3-5 minutes. Also, I noticed several kids in there with snotty noses and coughs. They shouldn't accept kids that are sick. We have a medically fragile child at home and her brother picked up a cold there (presumably the same day he walked out) and it put her at risk. Needless to say I won't be using the childcare service ever again and can't recommend that anyone else does unless some major changes are made.
Also, regarding enrollment, they wanted to charge all these fees, $20 enrollment fee, even a $2 processing fee for the plastic key card. They wouldn't waive the enrollment fee unless I signed up for a more expensive package (they said then they'd knock it down $5) and said I could change my membership level anytime. After more questions I found out that while I could change it, there's a $50 fee to downgrade! That's insane! I left and signed up online gfo just $19.99 and none of the ridiculous fees. So if you're thinking about joining, skip the front desk and...

Review: ★★★☆☆
As a long-time member of Crunch Fitness, I have mixed feelings about this gym. While the equipment and facilities are top-notch, the overall experience has been marred by overcrowding and less-than-friendly staff.
To begin with, the gym and equipment are well-maintained and up-to-date. Crunch offers a variety of machines and weights that cater to different fitness levels and preferences, making it an ideal place for those who enjoy a diverse workout routine. They also provide fitness classes, which can be quite engaging and enjoyable.
However, the gym has become increasingly overcrowded in recent years. It can be challenging to find available machines during peak hours, and the workout space often feels cramped. This has led to a decline in the overall workout experience, as you have to wait longer to use your preferred equipment or find a spot to exercise.
Additionally, the staff at Crunch could use an improvement in their customer service skills. While they are knowledgeable about the equipment and gym facilities, their demeanor can be quite off-putting at times. A friendlier and more approachable staff would make a significant difference in creating a more welcoming atmosphere.
In conclusion, Crunch Fitness is a great gym in terms of equipment and facilities, but the overcrowding issue and the not-so-friendly staff have negatively impacted my experience. It's a solid three-star gym that could easily improve to a five-star establishment with some adjustments in staff attitude and finding a solution to the...
