As everyone knows in any business service & knowledgeable employees are what makes a business / company thrive. I've been a client with Charleston Gold & Diamond Jewelry Exchange for over fifteen + years. I haven't read the reviews but as most of society knows / business owners know when customers / clients know when a review is written, I don't know the exact statistics , but they say it speaks for a hundred or more people. I had the pleasure of speaking to an associate named Max. Very knowledgeable and was able to elaborate on watches that I was calling about. And for people that are over 50 and some under 50 understand that people that are 26 years old and the service industry sometimes rush you and don't know what they're talking about. But not once did he make me feel that I was asking too many questions and I know that we do have a lot of young people in the service industry that are knowledgeable whether it's food and beverage trades or young and up and coming professionals. It's like the commercial that we've heard at Gerald's that they don't want just your business they want your grandchildren's business. a generational thing. And that does speak volumes. In the past when I've traded up on my watches and some of them have not been working well one of them. I got more money than I was expecting all three times because you do pay for quality but Charleston Gold & Diamond also pay up when you are trying to get the most money that you can. They are fortunate to have an associate at such a young age that is very good at his craft. Will continue to do business with Charleston Gold and Diamond. They custom made my wife's wedding jewelry back in 2008. Now, in 2025, the pieces they made are still just as beautiful and timeless! I've made several sales, purchases and upgrades with them over the years. Faces have changed a few times, but the exceptional customer service is still the same! Max is an amazing guy that really knows his gems and works diligently with you to find exactly what you are looking for! Max appraised several jewelry pieces for me to sell personally and I was able to sell 2 items quickly in a matter of days based on his numbers He went out of his way to find something entertaining for my young son to do while we talked business. That really means a lot to me. Dana is a beautiful person and an absolute pleasure to work with. She worked with me to find the perfect setting for a loose diamond. The final product resulted in an absolutely stunning ring that I was proud to present to my wife. They also appraised the ring for our insurance and we were overjoyed with its valuation! I can't speak highly enough about Max and Dana! They are an absolute pleasure to work with and a credit to this fine establishment. In fact, my 12 year old daughter got her first piece of jewelry from them in late 2023. They now are serving 2 generations of my family. Absolute fraud. Manager lied multiple times while trying to buy my gold. He was rude, condescending and I would never sell anything to this business.

First, he started his dishonesty campaign by stating that he cannot buy from people unless they have a dealers license otherwise he will have to reduce the price by 30% and hold the items for 3 weeks. Complete lie. He does have to hold items but all pawn shops are required to do so however, they don’t all screw the customer over by not paying them for three weeks. You do not have to have a dealers license to get paid right away and you don’t have to sell gold for 30% less. Major red flag.

He then weighed the gold without showing me the scale and lowered the total weight by 50%. Luckily I weigh and test everything before I sell. Please, have your items weighed and tested before you try to sell. A scale is $15 and a test kit online is $10. This will save you a lot of money.

Now the fun part, I gave him 3 cubic zirconium diamonds and one real one. He looked at all four and quickly said they were all CZ. I asked if how he knew without testing them. He said he just knows. I asked if he could test them which takes just a few seconds. Again he went behind a desk and came back and said all are not real.
