Feedback on Recent Couch Purchase Experience
Great customer service—until the sale is made. Unfortunately, everything went downhill from there. I purchased a custom couch on August 31st, 2024. Since then, we’ve been asked to return to the store three times to choose a different fabric, as it was a custom piece selected by my wife. We eventually spoke with a manager who apologized for the inconvenience and promised a generous discount for the confusion and the time we had waited—this was about five months into the process.
At the end of March 2025, I received a call letting me know the couch had arrived. During that call, we discussed waiving the delivery fee due to the inconvenience, along with the discount the manager had promised. They agreed to hold the couch, as we were going out of town for a couple of months, which I truly appreciated.
By mid-May 2025, we were back in town and called to schedule the delivery. At that point, they wanted to charge me the delivery fee and had no record of the discount we had discussed—despite speaking with the same salesperson I had spoken to previously. We received a beautiful couch, though it wasn’t exactly what we ordered. Still, we chose to keep it because we liked it and didn’t want to go through another long wait. Now, I’m waiting to see if they will still honor the discount, but the manager I originally spoke to is no longer with the company.
No hard feelings—the products are great. But the customer service and communication definitely need improvement. I won’t be purchasing anything else from this store again. It’s frustrating to feel like I’m begging for a discount I was already promised.
Update: The salesman called me and said they’re no longer willing to offer a discount. Let’s be clear—it’s not about “helping me out.” It’s about doing the right thing and...
Read moreIn 2024, my husband and I will be moving to Summerville, from Portland, Oregon. Our intention was to completely update our new home, but the thought of doing it long distance was daunting. That was until I stumbled upon J&K Furnishing in Mt. Pleasant. After reading about the extensive selection they had to offer, and the in-house interior design service that was available, I reached out to one of their designers and began one of the best shopping experiences of my life!
Karen Johnson became not only my designer extraordinaire, but an invaluable part of entire process. She listened to my ideas and needs, then helped guide me to selections that fit perfectly… some even exceeding my vision for our new home. The remote service she provided over the course of 3 months was something not always found in today’s world, but so appreciated. Along the way, I had the pleasure of virtually meeting another associate, Margaret, who was gracious enough to jump in and help whenever Karen needed her. Having worked in high end retail for 30 years, I appreciate a store with a strong team approach. The financing, protection plan, and delivery services all rounded out a perfect experience. Now, we can wait for the house to be finished, knowing that the furniture will be perfect, thanks to Karen, her manager Chris, and this fabulous team.
Whether it’s a new lamp or, like us, an entire new home, I would definitely recommend you shop at J&K! Be sure and ask for Karen and Margaret, and tell them...
Read moreI have to change my rating after finding out that after we spent over $ 7000 buying 2 Tempur pedic mattresses, that the return was not as told to us. My wife wanted to return her mattress and get a softer one it has been about 90 days. We were told originally that we had 120 days to try the mattresses out and if we didn't like it, we could exchange at no cost. Well, I called and found out that there is a 10% restocking fee $ 340.00, plus $ 100 pick up fee. Total $ 440.00 to try out the mattress. Of course, to upgrade to the other mattress would be another $ 500.00, so almost $ 1000.00 extra. Very disingenous. I understand that they have since fired the sales person would sold us the mattress , but . Expensive lesson. I understand restocking fees on furniture, etc., BUT, we specifically asked about the mattress policy BEFORE PURCHASING as we knew that there are companies that give you free mattress trials. UPDATE! It turns out that the salesman could have easily told us that there was a better warranty protection for trying out the mattress In any case J&K rectified the issue. We are getting the upgraded mattress without the penalties. But you definitely need to understand the guarantees...
