We love this hidden gem w/ a charming atmosphere and friendly, knowledgeable staff. We've been many, many times and always enjoy the warm, relaxed vibe and the friendly chit chat that takes place at the bar or on the comfy couches. The Wine Bar is a place where you can keep to yourself if you're on a date, or talk it up with friendly folks if that's your thing... we've done a little of each on multiple visits.
I do have to make a quick note: one reviewer mentioned splitting checks and rude staff. I've never run into either problem! I believe their menu states a policy about not splitting checks although I'm not certain as it's been about a week or so since I last saw their menu and can't be certain but I seem to remember seeing it. I checked to see if a menu was posted online to confirm but couldn't find a copy of the actual menu, just menu items. But I want to mention that on a very recent trip to The Wine Bar there was a small group of women sitting at the bar, one of whom appeared quite intoxicated and she was raising a stink about splitting their check. I made a joke to my companion about splitting a check for charcuterie... how the heck do you do that? "I ate three pieces of cheese and she had seven!" Anyway, the woman got quite belligerent and was actually asked to leave. Up until that point, from my vantage point it appeared that the owner was trying to accommodate the woman while also tending to the other customers (it was a busy night.) But, to make a long story short, once the woman was escorted out the entire room burst into an impromptu round of applause. It was absolutely hysterical!
Bottom line: The Wine Bar is a great place to go with a special someone or with a group of friends looking for a fun, friendly, relaxed and oh so delicious...
Read moreWe had a groupon for a meat and cheese plate so stopped by here to try it out. For what we got from the groupon it was a pretty good value, 3 meats, 3 cheeses, and 3 chocolates for $17. However the normal menu price was somewhere around $60. For what we paid it was absolutely worth it, but it was no where near a $60 plate.
This is a place to go to if you live close to here and you a vinophile. If you are more of a beer person I think you will be out of your element (and that is how I felt). The meat/cheese plate that was put together for us was good, but I've had much better. This type of plate is put together by places that buy quality ingredients and put it together for you. It is not made in house. To be clear, there is nothing wrong for that. But I would hesitate at the price point as it stands on the menu.
Service is another type of thing. We didn't get great service because we weren't doing the wine thing. I suppose we were left alone because its supposed to be a quiet kind of environment, which is fine, but we didn't fit in. I think we had the table visited twice in around an hour. Glad I got to use the groupon, but its too far, too pricey, and too "winey" for...
Read moreVery embarrassed! I live in Belle Hall and suggested a pre-wedding wine and charcuterie dinner for my daughter’s wedding the next day with her bride’s made and her daughter visiting for the first time from Tampa, Florida. One of our meals was served but 30 minutes later after asking several times, our guests were still not served and we were told the kitchen was “working on it.” Surprisingly, both families ordered charcuterie boards but one came out and the other did not. After a good 30 minutes of waiting for our guests’ meal, we asked who appeared to be the owner to please remove the food which we had still not received from the bill and cancel that order. He was very rude about trying to accommodate and came back over to our table defensively with excuses, never once mentioning trying to accommodate or compensate for our guests not receiving their food. Being from a food and hospitality career background ourselves, we found this service unacceptable and will not...
