Itās a classic case of penny wise and pound foolish. Monday 11/19/18 at 2:15 to 3:15
Either the owner or manager, young girl in a dress obviously in charge, knew we were first time guests as she personally assisted us with the menu and we had a very friendly blonde hair waitress.
We eat out a lot, maybe five nights a week. Retired and wife hates to cook and a week or so Sushi. Never knew this place existed until passed it recently on the way to our fav Italian restaurant located in the same mall, but happy to find it.
Weāre regulars at tsunamiās and VERY well known at Tokyo Bristol, our main weekly place. But was hoping to add a new place to our rotation list!
Point is you never know who you might offend and thatās why you ALWAYS ignore any small loss you incur for the sake of keeping your customers smiling. In this case they lost a couple customers that could have been regulars AND weāre big spenders, lunch tab was $110 with tip for two!
So when you see two NEW customers come in and they spent a LARGE amount of money at lunch? Common sense dictates keep them happy!
The situation was simple. I ordered a meal that came with either chicken, shrimp or steak. Like every other place Iāve been to, itās NEVER a problem to order a combination. I asked for steak and shrimp. She said hang on let me see āifā we can do that. Geez... already a signal itās not about the customer itās about them! Just say YES!!!
After inquiring she said there was a āSMALLā upcharge. Now at this point I was a little shocked and asked why? Just split it evenly steak and shrimp but she didnāt know, I didnāt want to make a big deal of it, so whatever, I donāt mind a āsmallā up charge. The meal was $14.00. Iām thinking a dollar... or two..
We get the bill and my $14 meal jumped to $24 and the āsmallā up charge was a $10 order for a side of shrimp???? WOW!!!! Not even close to small and not even an up charge but an add on meal!!!
And why even say itās an up charge anyway??? Thatās the most mind-boggling part. Why not just simply say there will be a $10 additional charge for an extra order of shrimp? Can only imagine entrapment as why..
I blame both waitress and manager because the waitress KNEW I was concerned to begin with and failed to keep close tabs on it for me AND failed to make an adjustment on the bill when I pointed out to her that was not small and not what we discussed!! Well all she did was shake her head as if, nothing I can do now.
I also blame management for pricing it like that to begin with, which had nothing to do with the waitress when they should offer a combination already but if they donāt, pricing it out as a $10 side while presenting it to the waitress as a small up charge is DUMB.
As I say their food was good, but they are definitely not the cheapest place and are more expensive than tsunamiās, and a lot more expensive than Tokyo Bristol. But I donāt mind that as long as the food was good and in this case it was!
But to let two NEW people walk out knowing they were not happy about it? You donāt EVER let customers walk out that arenāt happy!!! Especially two people who are dropping with tip $100 for a lunch tab!!!!
I think management here is WAY too worried about pennies and principles for my liking and shows they are horrible businessmen as well.
$10 in shrimp vs YEARS AND YEARS OF REPEAT BUSINESS BY A COUPLE OF BIG...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreā„ļøš¤©ROCKSTAR SUSHI!! My friend and I ate sushi at the bar. They accommodated me with my NO (minimal) carbs diet, and omitted the rice, at my request. I had a Double Tuna Roll ($16), which is spicy tuna, cucumber and avocado topped with seared tuna. Also, a Tanaka Roll ($15), which is spicy tuna, avocado and cucumber topped with spicy salmon. They were both fantastic! Probably because I didnāt have rice, I was still hungry, so ordered two more. (I realize without the rice, itās no longer sushi!) My friend got the Steak Tataki Roll, and said it was awesome. (I totally forgot to get picsā¦sorry!!) FYI- they also can do GF/gluten free. Our server was super, and the ambiance was perfect (not too loud). It was crowded, especially for a Wednesday night, but everyone was having fun. Parking is abundant, but was crowded at six oāclock. We were so pleased with our whole experience, and will definitely be going backā¦(Why is it that the best sushi restaurants seem to mostly be in strip-malls?!)š *UPDATE: I got the very same thing again for takeout last night. It was even better this time, especially with the fire sauce that comes with the double tuna. The girls at the takeout counter were all super cool and fun too....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was really looking forward to a birthday dinner with my kids at this location and the atmosphere and service were great no complaints there the problem is the whole reason we were there, the food was terrible. Two in our party got steak and specifically identified medium rare. The steak was not even close it was more like well done. My tempura soft shell crab was not prepared correctly, they did not clean out the lungs from the crab which taste terrible and ruined the dish completely. In paying $17 for one tiny fried soft shell crab only to have it taste like armpit is simply unacceptable. This is common knowledge with preparing crab as a whole especially soft shell which you eat practically whole. The sushi preparations were just okay there are many places that I would consider to be better and at a smaller premium price. My children usually loves Sushi and none of them liked what they received at this restaurant. We got five different types and three different types of preparations and none of them were as good as many other places we have visited. Highly disappointed and for $180 meal for five we...
