I’ll change this score in the future if the store improves. I’ve been frequenting this store since it opened in the 2000s (late 90s maybe?). I appreciate that they’re in the area.
Magic: Playing here is interesting. There’s no bathroom. You have to walk to Kroger. Which is kinda a deal breaker half the time as you don’t want to get your stuff stolen when you walk to another store in between games. Sealed product is overpriced as with any LGS but gratuitously so because they have no competition. All of the singles are stored in the back so you can’t browse outside of draft chaff. You’ll get a better look at their inventory going on tcgplayer than in the store. The players who frequent this store are odd. They get upset when they lose games and act out immaturely. The store can’t control this but I’ve encountered multiple mentally unwell people, very unkempt smelly folks, and people vaping weed pens while playing here. Never experienced much like it outside of gamescape. It’s just an odd gathering of people.
The rest: Everything is over priced. People are ripped off left and right for their used stuff. They could have some decent business if they carried new comics cuz there’s no where to get that stuff around here. They print out cover art for games which is a huge no no in the used gaming world and seems like a plot to trick the customer. Anything unmarked is looked up on eBay and then given a price. A practice I can’t stand. The employees do a good job of marking most items. The used gaming stuff is well kept.
Verdict: The workers in this store are awesome. Ownership is checked out and doesn’t care. It’s a great location without much competition. Unfortunately the LGS world isn’t for people looking to turn profits anymore. Comics are digital as are movies and games. So I’m annoyed half the inventory in the store is nerd merch but that must be all they can make money on. Personally I feel they need to go back to physical cards in binders, showcase singles up front, have old expensive cards that people go to a store to see. Get a comic section that’s filled and do pull lists for people. There are some things people just like to have physically regardless of medium and cost. Lean into adults hanging out and playing board games… they spend money. Otherwise I fear in a couple year this business...
Read moreGreat place, which is why it pains me to give it a low score but I really want them to take this to heart. It would be 5 stars if not for one major complaint. Card games, board games, video games, tabletop games, DVDs, and other nerd stuff, always at a fair asking price. Great atmosphere and really nice employees (for the most part). I used to love visiting here to fill out my PS2 and DS collections. My one issue. PLEASE USE DIFFERENT STICKERS. As a collector, their super strong stickers have ruined the game artwork or cases on multiple things I’ve purchased here. This goes doubly for DS and 3DS games that don’t have cases. Putting your super strong stickers on paper artwork is a terrible idea. The stickers are also big enough that they have to go somewhat on the back of the cartridge too. The residue from the stickers can be really hard to get off sometimes and if you put it into your system without properly getting it all off, it’ll stick in and/or gum up your DS. Not as big of an issue with games with cases, but it’s frustrating when their stickers leave so much residue and are so hard to get off. Many of my game cases look nasty where I peeled off their stickers, and some of my games stick together on my shelf due to the impossible to remove residue. I rarely have this problem at places like Half Price Books near Columbus, which I honestly prefer to shop at these days. Same with FYE stickers (on CDs), also in Columbus. Just please be better about your price stickers, for the...
Read moreThe store has had a major renovation/redesign of the layout inside, it looks amazing and the staff are really excited about it as well.
They told me it has been almost a year since the rework of the space.
It feels like a super neat and upbeat gaming store and less like a run down resell place that specializes in games.
No offense to how it used to be but it has really made some awesome changes, there is even a 3D printer and a whole lot more new merchandise from brands like Squishmallows, DnD, Marvel and many anime titles!
You can even get anime props and other things as well!
The new store layout and shelving also has given them the opportunity to have a much more robust support for buying tabletop miniatures in store, not only for DnD but Pathfinder and other games and has supplies to paint them as well.
Last but not least they still offer space in the back for Magic the Gathering, DnD, and other game nights. And have scheduled dates for all kinds of stuff to meet new...
