I mean it's the mall in my community. I am a taxpayer of Munice , I pride the place I live in so sure I'll stop in and patronize...from time to time ..every blue moon . Everyone is pretty much on point here: not many stores, dark as far as light (so it can be depressing, for sure). I will add my 30 cents and say the place itself as a whole smells like old pool water in an outdated gymnasium. But the individual stores don't smell , just the walkways areas! I mean the mall reminds me of the Gary Indiana's Village so it's somewhat nostalgic to me, in a weird way. It also is giving the Southlake Mall up in Da Region! The Mall that some would still argue is either Merrillville or Hobart. In highschool, it was booming but after a while ghost town , shootings, not safe, loss of stores! No place is perfect!
For the Muncie Mall: I usually get in and get out and buy one cute sweater from Torrid or one spray from BBW. But to be honest, I'm moving toward online shopping 🛍️ and staying safe, going out isn't just the safest anymore,...
Read moreI do not expect this mall to be open in just a few short years, maybe just months. According to the hours on the door (and online) they are open 10a-9p M-Sa. However, I would guess the reality is that the mall actually has around 50% occupancy, with the other half of spaces unoccupied. They have no anchor stores. Of the stores that are still in the mall, probably half of them had shorter hours. 11a-7p seemed to be the popular one, I'm guessing in order to pay only one shift worth of workers. I was pleasantly surprised to find it still has Spencer's gifts, and Hot Topic. I was also happy to find Claire's (the reason for my visit to the mall), and Bath and Body Works was especially busy. The mall itself was clean, with ample parking, and plenty of room for social distancing because the mall is nearly void of people. I cannot bring myself to give more than 2 stars to a massive building only half full, and the other half only open during 70% of the time of the...
Read moreJust your average middle American mall. Sure, thanks to the availability of photos, you can just judge based on the cleanliness, layout, vacancies, variety of shops, and other features. Given that this mall will soon be 50 years old, its doing reasonably well for an environment littered with alternatives from online/mobile shopping to big box stores nearby, in which case their proximity is a good thing since it can compliment visitors who couldn't find something there to head on over. Unfortunately, the lack of a food court is a major drawback, along with the lack of any real entertainment options besides your standard GameStop and Books-A-Million. Otherwise, standard mall fare with a few scattered vacancies. I'm sure some of those likely would fill in during the year-end holiday season as pop-ups, but Muncie Mall makes a good representative of the state of the indoor shopping mall...
