MCL Restaurant & Bakery Muncie — Restaurant in Muncie

My husband and I had a delicious meal at MCL last week. We sat at a table very close to the cashier/checkout area. There was a little commotion from a older gentleman demanding a refund and talking loud enough about stuffed chicken breast we could hear. At this point a few surrounding tables all could hear him. He was very unkind, loud with the staff, disrespectful and demanding. What I heard and could see from our table the staff handled it very well. The cashier did have a louder voice, but only due to calming down the gentleman in a very professional kind manner, as he kept raising his voice at her. The manager stepped in and tried his best to calm the gentleman, but the gentleman kept screaming he was a veteran and would not be back, and kept demanding a refund. I saw another female manager come to cashier/checkout as well trying to deescalate the situation and to help calm down the gentleman. The managers were truly kind, courteous, professional, trying their best to calm down this hostile man. I did see the male manager give the man a refund. The gentleman left but yet again yelling he is a veteran and would not be back. I have worked in management and customer service for over 20+ years and can recognize someone wanting a free hand out or uses their demanding demener to get what they want. This was a perfect example of that and the staff and management handled it very professionally! The two managers even came by our table and surrounding tables to apologize for the commotion. I had been wanting to try MCL so I finally went with my adult children. I had gotten the Beef Manhattan, coleslaw, & pumpkin cheese cake. My kids had chicken, dressing, mash potatoes/ gravy, corn on the cob, one has strawberry shortcake the other had apple crisp. Everything was awesome, fresh and hot. The servers were very friendly and helpful. They even had somebody help us carry our tray to our table. I enjoyed the restaurant immensely. I found myself craving another piece of the pumpkin cheesecake. So I went Friday and got me again Beef Manhattan and a piece of the cheesecake to go. The curbside service was awesome as well and again The person that brought me my food out in my car was also very friendly and professional. I come to MCL frequently for my lunch breaks as I work in the Muncie Mall.

I have never had an issue with MCL in my three years of eating here and they always have specials going on, my personal favorite being 99 cent Pecan Pie Thursdays!

I also work in the food service industry and would appreciate if ALL employees used gloves (some do some do not) to serve guests.

Food is always of high quality, especially the chicken breast.

Most importantly I have yet to receive bad service from the employees at MCL and they are always on top of their game assisting guests with food selections, carrying trays to tables for them, getting them drinks, and keeping the dining area clean and tidy.
