Cancelling my membership very soon due to the unrealistic greed of Murfreesboro Goldâs owners. I used Goldâs religiously when I lived on the North side of town. The gym was clean, employees were kind and helpful, and I never had any issues with the management or the way the gym was run.
The South location is an absolute joke. Letâs just start with the fact that a ten day renovation turned into a two-month renovation. I understand this â things have to be up to code and a lot of aspects were out of their hands. Fine and dandy. To accommodate the large renovation, Golds hired new employees who arenât well trained enough to review a personâs profile on what amenities an individual is entitled to. They did not add a sauna to the renovation and they removed the cardio cinema. Now theyâve purchased brand new tanning beds that are ONLY for those members who choose to upgrade their membership or pay an upcharge for the beds. Otherwise, youâll tan in a bed with only eight working bulbs. Employees will tell you to select a different location for those amenities... I live 1.7 miles away from the South location in the business part of town. To ask SO MANY CUSTOMERS to spend gas and time in traffic to go to other Boro locations (30 - 45 minutes through Murfreesboro depending on the time of the day) or to the Smyrna/Belle Meade locations is RIDICULOUS. I donât pay my fees for ownership to make last minute decisions to exclude its existing members who should be grandfathered in to new equipment privileges.
I originally left PF to come to Goldâs because the census and the staff appeared to be more committed to the lifestyle they represented. All Iâm seeing is a commitment to making every...
Read moreI went in today to try out Goldâs because I was thinking about cancelling at Planet Fitness. Taylor told me I had to pay $15 even though I told him I have never been to Goldâs and it should have been a free day pass. I went ahead and paid it. While working out, I text my sister and she told me it should have in fact been free. Before leaving out, I again asked Taylor why did I pay $15 when on the website it explicitly states the first time you visit it should be free. He told me thatâs just the policy. I didnât want to argue so I called the Memorial location while walking out to my car and spoke to the employee there. He also confirmed I should NOT have paid $15 for my first visit and he looked up my account in the system and told me he did not see any history of me ever visiting. He told me to call back at this location (Old Fort) and find out why Taylor charged me that. I called back and Taylor said he has been charging $15 all day for the passes which was puzzling to me. I told him I need the money refunddd to me and he said his manager Ken was off today and that he didnât know any other solution for me. This is beyond unethical because he should have known not to charge someone $15 for the free day pass. I am beyond disappointed and now I will not join Goldâs based on Taylorâs actions.
EDIT: I called back while in the parking lot and somehow Ken showed up to work to process my refund lol. Taylor told me that Ken was off work today and that was a lie. I went inside and Ken said he processed my $15 back. I am beyond disappointed in Goldâs. Not only did the employee charge me $15 when he shouldnât have but he also told me a lie and said his manager Ken was off work today...
Read moreThis was my 1st gym I joined after moving here, and everything was great even had two of my friends come join, it was nice the machines were great and tall enough , the rotation between gym mates wasnât bad at all. Different machines did need extra attention from time to time & thatâs where the huge remodeling came in and they were going to shut down for a few months ok cool but prices were almost tripling when I started it was $12 a month but with this huge new revamp they needed more $$ of course so they decided to act like my payments werenât made, I had a savings account just for gym drafts money sat there for months I called and asked the front desk and they said everything was ok, I was still coming in working outâŚ. Then I get a call from Ray the financial manager ( who needs more people skill and a few customers service courses) saying that my gym account was closed and it was nothings he could do about but get this⌠I could sign back up with the new rates âŚ.So I found a new gym and lo and behold about 5 or more old gold members had the same exact story⌠coincidence nope very doubtful. But now they want to send out I miss you text come back and join⌠ha! just like a toxic relationship & clearly I was played with & neither I or my bank account was the problem. Youâve messed over your faithful members I thought about coming back just for the smith machine but reading these new comments seems like all the revamping was a flop. Treat your members better and just be honest this...
