EXCELLENT FOOD - REASONABLY PRICED - FRIENDLY BUT INCOMPETENT SERVICE
I give three stars because we love the food so much. It is my favorite Mexican food in Murfreesboro but the service has disappointed us too many times. We started eating here many years ago, before it became so popular, and the food and services was very good. The food is still excellent but when they become busy (any night of the week) the kitchen becomes overwhelmed and lately our story is always the same. Here's how it usually goes: We order our food, a normal amount of time passes, and our first plate arrives. "Hooray, time to eat!" Then we wait 5 minutes and a second plate arrives, "hooray, we're finally eating! Surely the rest of the food is right behind?" Then 5 more minutes pass and another plate that looks exactly like mine, but isn't mine, walks right past our table. "Aw dang! Were they here before me?" Then many more plates walk by and “I want to go home!" exclaims my younger child. And so on, and so on. We're usually a table of 4 or less and we always seem to get our plates one-at-a-time, and 5 minutes apart. Too many times I've watched people finish their meals while others have no food. Yet I keep going back because the food is so good and the price is right.
The place has maybe 15 tables yet there's always a party of 20, and that is what screws them up. The staff can't handle it.
Last night was the final straw. We put in our food order and 3 minutes later they delivered my plate and no others, of course, and it looked like it had been sitting in the window for 20 minutes. "Gee, I wonder how this happened. How did they know what I was going to order before I even got here" Nevertheless, I still wanted to eat my aging food so I patiently began waiting for the other food to arrive. 20 MINUTES LATER we had lost track of time as we were having fun and when looked at the clock on my phone I could not believe my eyes. My food is possibly 40 minutes old, while nobody else has any food at all. Unbelievable! We all agreed we should stand up and walk out, so we did.
I dropped some cash on the table to pay for my plate and the two (long gone) margaritas we had ordered. On my way out, I stopped to say goodbye to our server and explain my dissatisfaction, however I don't think she understood a word. Her response was a whole lot of smiles and nodding. I quickly realized I was talking to a dashboard bobble-head doll, so I turned and left without logging a complaint. That is why I'm writing my first ever on line review (of anything) today. They need to know what a screw up they've become. I can forgive once or twice but it is getting ridiculous at this place.
Let me be clear: It wasn't the nice server with few English words who upset me and caused me to leave. (I apologize for the bobble head remark but I’m leaving it in because it paints the perfect picture)
Rather, I’m convinced it is the incompetent kitchen staff with their delicious recipes that caused such a disappointing evening. This is the 3rd time I've declared out loud in the parking lot “We're not coming back here ever again !" This time I mean it, MI Patria! You do not deserve my business anymore! I do love your food but your service gives me heartburn. You need to learn how to get your food out on time and all at once.
To be fair, this place really does have excellent food and is reasonably priced. They are always packed at dinner time. If you love Mexican food, don't care about service, and want to save a buck, then Mi Patria will be an awesome experience for you.
Maybe I'll start going...
Read moreNew to the area and shopping around for a good Mexican restaurant. Saw this one close by. And thought we would try it. The service wasn’t bad at all. But wasn’t offered or asked if we needed anything else till we were almost done eating and I would of loved hot sauce and more salsa. Also the portions we received were so small compared to the HIGH PRICES WE PAID!!! The place is small and it could be a nice small in dining establishment but they have it so crowded they honestly need to take away half of the seating. So people can move around comfortably. It was a really tight squeeze and you could tell that some people were irritated by the small environment and the energy of the diners were off and slightly annoyed and miserable considering. I think if they allowed more space even though they are trying to shove as many in there as they can for profit the establishment just doesn’t hold the capacity for that. With all that said. If they opened up the seating, worked with the staff and made the food bigger portions with a 2-5 dollar price drop I’d go again but at this moment I’ll continue to look for the next Mexican restaurant because unfortunately this...
Read moreDo not I repeat do not go to this place to eat. I was there this past weekend and we were seated and as soon as we sat down we were greeted by flies. The waiter came to the table to take our drink order. While waiting a small roach crawled on the table. I stopped it with a napkin so that I could show it to the waiter. When he returned to the table I showed him the napkin and his response was not apologetic or surprised but more like "ok". Next we were sitting waiting for our food and another roach crawled on the wall where we were seated. I told him about it and he said " I guess we need to call a pest control company " He then said we will take care if this at the register. I guess my mistake was to eat the food, because when we got to the register he had the nerve to insult me by saying he would take 10% off the bill,WTH. I told him the bill should be zero. You should thank me for not causing a scene and telling the other guest about your roaches. He then decided to make it free only after people were coming up to the counter. It's really disappointing that this happened because we were regulars since 2009. Nasty...
