I waited a little while after coming home to write this review because I was so bummed and upset I did not want to be rude. ||I was counting down the days to our “Romance Package” getaway for our anniversary. We have 4 kids and desperately needed some relaxing and some time alone. The woman on the phone when I booked was super helpful and when I wanted to add services and called back I received great service. We counted down the days and talked about our spa retreat coming up for a month! We were pumped and unfortunately let down. ||1. The pedicure- for this, I would give 0 stars, seriously it was that bad. The place you sit is a concrete slab with a 90* angle and some cushions for a seat and back. It was the most uncomfortable thing ever. When I booked I told her after a 4 hour drive it will be awesome to lean back and have our feet pampered. We even mentioned how completely uncomfortable it was and she said, yeah it’s terrible I know. She was rude when I told her I had gel but I hardly had any on and peeled all but 1 toe off. She took so long and wasn’t even a good pedicure and we were so miserable I told her forget about even polishing my toes because we had 5 min left and I didn’t want them sloppy. Just to come home and pay $60 for a much much better pedi.||2. The room was fantastic. We loved our strawberries and when we asked for cider instead of wine they quickly swapped out. The bed was cozy, fireplace perfect and snacks great. The bathtub was to die for! I never use bathtubs when traveling but I enjoyed every minute in this one. I would suggest one thing, add a roku or fire stick to the TVs :) having a fridge and utensils was great because we just wanted to order in.||3. On this one I cried. Because the lounges and relaxing areas were separate men and women’s, my husband and I let go of our dream of lounging in the spa relaxation are sipping lemon water together fantasy and just lounged in our room until it was time for an epsom salt soak bath and couples massage. When we got there they said they would escort us to the couples lounge WHAT?! We’d had 2 spa services and been there 2 full days and overnight after they knew we booked the romantic package and they are JUST now telling us about a couples area?!? They said well, your soak and massage are soon so you can enjoy after, oh actually, no we will be closed by then. We stayed in our room all day so we could be together but if they would have educated us we would have known there was an area for us to be together. They only told us about all the separate stuff. Since we had to check out the next morning we never even got to see the couples area…. Really the main reason we booked and drove 4 hours. ||4. Epsom soak- don’t waste your money! The bath wasn’t as nice as the one in my room and all it was was some lavender sprinkled in a nice bathtub with jets. Ok, if you aren’t staying there you may find the tranquility and relaxation nice but when the bubbles wouldn’t work in this smaller tub I hopped out and just went to enjoy the sauna. The attendant was super nice and apologized and didn’t charge me.||5. Couples massage- worth every penny! This was the best, and last thing we did on our so-called spa day. I had Miguel and I can’t remember who he had but the massage was perfect, atmosphere relaxing and they were super nice. I would recommend a sound machine for white noise because we could hear the massage desk crew talking and vacuuming. But, the massage was so great I blocked it out. ||6. Outside was a cute little fireplace and sitting area. We relaxed there a bit just to get out of the room. Yes, it is right off the highway but, if you are inside you’d never know it. If I was on a girls weekend and lounging it would have been amazing! I found out as we were leaving there was also a quiet lounge area for women who didn’t want to be around chatting. ||7. Locker room sauna and steam room were fantastic. The showers were great. They thought of every little touch with nice towels and robes ||I so wish our expectations = reality. The truth is, if we had been able to relax together and had a true tour of the place and the pedicure wasn’t misery, I would give it full stars. All it would have taken was a little communication to us and a tour. That was our dream, robes, tranquility and spa atmosphere spending our anniversary together. Instead, we lounged in the room watching Netflix and playing cards till it was time for our massage. So please, when you have people that come for the first time, especially who book the romance package, show them the dang...
Read moreWorst massage of my life. My husband and I booked a couples massage here for our anniversary. I have been here years ago and had a pretty good experience then but I don’t know if they have changed staffing since then or what but that was not my experience today. To start, my husband enjoyed his massage and didn’t have any complaints about his therapist. But for me, it was not the case. Our massage was 55 minute and I got the add on of a scalp massage and my husband got a deep tissue add on. I started off telling my therapist before the massage that I wanted less of a deep tissue and more of a relaxing pressure. She understood and told me to let her know if I was uncomfortable at any moment. Right when she put her hands on me she started going super fast with her massage strokes. I thought maybe she was trying to warm my muscles up or something before slowing down and getting to the relaxing part. She continued this the entire massage and I finally asked her if she could do more of a slower stroke and she was a little snappy and said that because I got the add on she was going fast for the purpose of time but that she would try to slow down. Well, she did not, but she did get more jerky with her movements. She continued with her fast paced massage and then when she pulled the sheet off of my legs and arms she jerked it and didn’t tuck it in or anything like they usually do in a massage, but my husbands therapist tucked his sheet in and was very gentle with him according to him. After the massage she barely talked to me and when we met them out in the hallway my husbands massage therapist was the only one talking to us while mine just stood there next to her barely making eye contact. It really bothered me and I wasn’t trying to be a “needy client” but if you’re going to be giving a massage it’s honestly best to give quality over quantity, instead of 30 strokes on each body part, 10 relaxing strokes would have been better, maybe don’t have the option for an add on if you can’t even make the experience enjoyable... I just felt like I was not respected during this massage and it’s really disappointing because we spent...
Read moreMy husband and I recently stayed at Serenity in the Mountains to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. We live close to Blue Ridge (about 2 hours max) and we were looking for a place that could be cost effective yet still give us that getaway feeling. Let me tell you Serenity in the Mountain did not disappoint! We took advantage of their generous romantic getaway package that included a night stay in one of the beautiful and spacious suites, a bottle of wine or cider of our choice, chocolate covered strawberries (a generous plate!), cheese, crackers, breakfast for the morning and it came with an 85 minute couples massage. We really wanted to make this trip special so we added spa services to include the salt cave, a facial for myself and a body scrub for my husband. We started with the salt cave which was the perfect beginning and we were lucky enough to have it to ourselves! It really set the mood and tone for the rest of the services and I highly recommend doing it first. We then were led to quiet waiting areas where there were refreshments and comfortable and aesthetically pleasing environments. The staff scheduled us so efficiently we rarely waited. Brooke did my facial and Jenny did my massage and they were fantastic! So professional and truly caring service! My husband liked his body scrub and loved his upgrade to bamboo massage for our couples massage. The trip was reasonably priced and gave us 5 star treatment. We also were able to take advantage of the saunas and steam rooms which was a unique way to wait in my downtime. Plus it was less than 10 minutes from downtown Blue Ridge which was super convenient (though our restaurant experience was less than ideal but that has nothing to do with Serenity and they 100% saved my anniversary weekend with my experience). We absolutely would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for top notch service and comfortable and clean establishment at a great cost! We...
