TERRIBLE. I’ll be honest, I’m a disgruntled customer, but that doesn’t make what I’m saying any less true. BEWARE, the marketing for this place is great. The pictures are beautiful, but it is not as depicted.
During COVID, I found sock/carpet fuzz and human hair on the sheets at the foot of the bed. The sheets had not been changed, but the bed had been made. I found sticky drink rings on the night stand, evidence that things had not been wiped down/sanitized. I found a drink bottle, with no lid, behind the nightstand. There was dust on the base of all of the lamps, further evidence of things not having been cleaned properly in a while. We had two rooms. If you like standing in backed up grey water as your showering, this is the place for you! In both rooms, the showers were backing up over your ankles as you tried to get “clean”. Grass wasn’t mowed. The whole place is a facade of a few nice finish items on top of an old hotel. Not well done.
At first, the lady at the counter was at least helpful. She offered new sheets, and that “I” could come and get them. So I had to remake the beds myself in order to be at peace. Yay, free cleaning crew to the owner! Reid Ridge Lodge, where you can pay to stay, and work to stay.
When I went down to get the sheets, the wonderful lady at the desk asked me as if she expected something common, “what did you find”? I explained. She then went on to professionally tell me that they caught “the cleaning guy” up there sleeping and had to fire him. Say what? Thanks for that little bit of information. Now I feel really good about where my family is sleeping during COVID.
I went back later to ask for a refund for our second night we were planning to stay. It was too late in the evening for our family to find lodging elsewhere at this point. She said that it would be refunded. During checkout the next morning, I just tried to confirm with the new lady that my money would be refunded for the second night, the night I was cancelling. She said she would need to talk to her “manager”. He just happened to be pulling up. He came in, SHE explained the situation, and he rudely stated, “there is no refund after check-in.”
Wait, what??? You are providing an unsafe place during COVID, your people tell me the cleaning guy was fired for sleeping in the rooms, and you will not refund the night that I haven’t stayed yet? I wasn’t asking to be refunded for the night we stayed, although good companies would’ve done that as well without me asking.
He assured me his hotel was clean. I asked him, “where is your cleaning crew?”, at least twice, and he would not answer me. I saw no cleaning crew the entire time we were there. Instead he asked me if my house was clean. After arguing with the man twice, he still would not refund the night we had not yet stayed. He also wouldn’t give me his name. He told me that he was the owner, but wouldn’t give me his name. He also then said that he would’ve refunded my money if I had asked nicely. WHAT???!!!!! I did ask nicely, twice! He was the one who was immediately rude. I wasn’t going to stay there another night regardless. I left pretty furious. I’m not proud of my behavior, but the man had me boiling.
Also, when we arrived, people who had booked through other booking agencies were being told that someone was already in their room and they were turned away. It was ongoing each time I visited the desk. The front lady was frustrated about it. I heard her tell them to go down the street to the Douglas Inn. Interestingly, I happened to pass by that place when heading towards downtown, guess who’s Black Jeep was there with the Reid Ridge Lodge logo on it? Yep, the owner of Reid Ridge Lodge. He’s allowing his hotels to be overbooked, and then sending you to his other hotel, the one you didn’t chose to begin with. I’d stay away from that place and read those reviews as well before booking either of them. I’ve also been charged twice now for the second night....

As of today I have not received anything back from the owner so on my opinion it's theft that he has committed by keeping my money and also it's a health department issue from the hotel being over infested with bed bugs and roaches! This hotel is older and it was told and stated to us that when the bug man comes out to spray he will only spray one side and therefore the run to the other side only multiplying! I will be reporting to all sites for my negative comments and reviews and also contacting the BBB and filling out a report review with Ripoffreports.com and making a formal complaint with the health department and hopefully this owner will be made to face the officials that will direct him of the laws and make an example out of this place and the sorry owner! I can see that I'm not alone here with the same issues and others have experienced it with this business but hopefully it will be settled soon! It may have only been $125/$130 dollars but that's not the point here! He is a thief and provides poor and unhealthy and unfit conditions to the community! Clean it up please!

We recently visited your hotel and do to the infested roaches in the room we could not stay there and feel comfortable about the stay so we went to the front desk and spoke with Carol who was very understanding with the situation and she provided us with a business card to contact you regarding a reimbursement amount back to my account! The date that we were there was March 25, 2021 and we were told that the monies would be reimbursed back into my account within 72 hours and I checked with my bank today and the monies HAVE NOT been put back into the account as of now. Can you please advise us as to the time that you will be reimbursing us and the monies will be put back into the account please. Thank you for your time and we look forward to hearing from you.

Read moreTHE MOST RUDE CRUDE HOSPITALITY EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! On the 7th day of exploring various parts of Va., Nc., Tn. and Ga., myself and 3 friends were in need of 2 room for the night. We had rode thousands of miles together on our Harley Davidson motorcycles and comfortable beds, a/c, showers were our nightly requirement at a reasonable cost. Every hotel we stayed prior, the staff, management and guests were kind and friendly. THE OWNER HERE SHOULD LEARN FROM THOSE AROUND HIM!!! What happened is this. I saw this place online during one of our gas stops on our motorcycles. I see rates for the night offered at every travel site $89 for Thursday night 2 beds. Since this isn’t a chain, I like to inspect a place before booking because of surprises like miles of gravel road to get there. I get to this place, go into the lobby and speak to the woman about vacancy. Very pleasant. I am told that the rate is incorrect that I saw, it is 115.00 +tax which is the Weekend Rate. I didn’t understand how Weekends now included Thursdays?? Being hot, tired and exhausted, I handed her my credit card and paid $134.95 for my room. I then asked to hold 1 more room for my friends from Canada, who would be there in the next hour. They will be paying for that room themselves. When they arrived to check in, they presented their credit cards, they each paid 1/2 of $134.95.. Some how, she also made an error and charged my credit card an additional $67.00! I get a text alert from my bank. I am thinking this is weird. I go to front desk, she is already trying to fix the error and apologizes to me. She says Ron the owner will be in and will correct this in the morning. She says he will have all info what occurred and the error made. I meet Ron. Ron doesn’t know a thing. I explain it al. Ron begins to yell. Tells me no errors are made. No moneys will be returned. My name was on the reservation, I must pay for it. He would not listen. He was yelling at me, other guests and my friends.
