Updated Review (01/06/2024):
As they self-proclaim, this gym is one of the better gyms in the area - at least if you're into bodybuilding, powerlifting, etc. There is some very good pieces of equipment here that you won't typically find and most other gyms. The best thing about this gym, however, is the environment within the gym, the culture, and the capped membership.
As hinted at earlier, this is a place tailored more towards those into bodybuilding, powerlifting, and similar styles of fitness. These are the kinds of fitness endeavors Iâm into, so this makes the gym one more suited to my needs, though it may not be the place for those into things like Crossfit, or for the novice who is easily intimidated by the gym environment and heavy lifting.
I also love the fact that they have set a capped membership number, which means you wonât find a crazy packed gym. Sure, there are busy hours, but you wonât have to add on an hour to your workout simply because youâre waiting for gym equipment to become available. With all this said, there is still much left to be desired.
First and foremost, this gym doesnât currently have a shower or closed-off locker-room area to change in (though they are working on installing a shower, it looks like). They do have a couple bathrooms to get changed in, but no real dedicated place to put your things, and definitely no place to lock up your belongings.
The biggest frustration for me is the lack of quality pieces of equipment. Again, they do have some nice pieces of equipment, but some of the equipment is also, for a lack of a better way of putting it, hot garbage (particularly the lower-body equipment). While there are some upper-body pieces with questionable quality issues (some of the Fettle and Bolt pieces in particular), I do enjoy and love most of the upper-body equipment at 3D. Itâs the lower-body pieces (except the Pit Shark belt squat machine, Life Fitness leg extension, Life Fitness leg curl machine, and the two Roman Chairs they have) that need to be sold and replaced. I think the first piece of equipment to be replaced should be the seated leg curl machines because the current ones are terrible (they feel awful, and donât allow for a great stretch on the hamstrings). Second one would be the Fettle leg press machine.
Some pieces of equipment Iâd like to see them bring in are:
1.Better seated leg curl machine (like an Atlantis C108 Leg Curl or Prime Evolution Seated Leg Curl)
2.Better 45-degree unilateral leg press machine that moves smoothly, has an adjustable back, doesnât feel like itâs going to break apart, and allows for greater knee flexion (like an Arsenal Reloaded Bilateral Leg Press)
3.Freemotion Cable Cross Machine
4.Dynavec Gluteator machine
5.Rogerâs Power Squat Pro machine
6.Glute kickback machine (something like Atlantis C122 Glute Machine)
7.Better GHD machine (something like Atlantis PW322 Assisted Glute & Ham Developer or Atlantis D227 GHD machine)
8.Better hack squat machine (like an Arsenal Reloaded Linear Hack Squat or Atlantis PW412 Hack Squat)
9.Better pendulum squat machine (like an Atlantis PW212 Pendulum Squat or Arsenal Reloaded Pendulum Squat)
10.Better deadlift machine (like a Nautilus Plate-Loaded Deadlift Machine or Legend Fitness LeverEdge Deadlift machine)
Some of those are not totally necessary at this moment â just would like to see them. Definitely need a better seated leg curl though. Of course, everything costs money and gym equipment isnât cheap, and they limit their membership numbers, so I canât expect them to be able to throw around a ton of money to upgrade. Iâm just giving my opinion on things and changes with equipment Iâd like to see.
Overall, itâs a good gym for upper-body workouts, and provides a good environment for those who are into bodybuilding, powerlifting, and donât like crazy packed gyms (thank you Mary and Charlie for controlling this). Highly recommend you give this gym a shot if youâre not...

The owners, Charlie and Mary, have a genuine interest in your health and fitness journey and making sure that you have the support that you need to be successful. I also love that this is not a gym where you see people clicking their selfie's, but rather, when someone is doing an exercise incorrectly (like my children!) someone is always quick to step in and help them to make sure they don't hurt themselves. It's small and has an intimate feel to it so that no matter where in your stage of fitness you are, you will always have a place to feel comfortable and supported...
