I would love to be able to write a review for Mesa tacos but, unfortunately my family wasn’t able to experience anything they had to offer. I had hoped to take my family to dinner here while they were visiting from Las Vegas. I ate here a few years ago and remembered it as a fun place with fairly good food. As we are a large group (10 people), I called ahead to make a reservation. The hostess informed me that Mesa doesn’t take reservations. She said I could be placed on a waiting list on the Open table app and suggested doing so at 6:45 for a 7 pm seating, which we did. Upon our arrival at 7 pm the hostess let us know that we were still looking at a 35-45 minute wait with no guarantee of actually being seated in that time frame. With no place to wait inside we made ourselves as comfortable as we could in the outdoor tent which was slightly warmer than outside. We had two toddlers and an infant so not ideal and the hostess certainly did nothing to make us feel welcome in any way including letting us know when we might be able to be seated. At 7:45 I checked in with the hostess to get an update and was told that there was only one table that could accommodate us and that the guests at that particular table were “just hanging out” and that there was nothing she could do. I do understand that Mesa has limited seating but by this time we were really cold and hungry. Messenger pizza was warm and had huge slices of pizza and a table for us all so we ended up there!! Kind of a frustrating evening. I won’t attempt to...
Read moreTacos and Tequila is a great addition to the Nampa downtown area. When you walk in the atmosphere is lively and buzzing with music and patrons. The staff was very friendly. We arrived a few minutes after opening and decided to sit at the bar. There are several small tables for two, a couple of tables for four, one large table for a small group and then in the center of the room is one giant table where they use small plants to separate the different parties at the table.
The menu is small. Drinks on one side, food on the other. There are a small amount of appetizers from $7-$11 to choose from. Then you have the tacos. There were about 8 different styles to choose from. My wife and I each had three and we were both pleased with the flavors. Here is why I only rated 3 stars. I thought the portions were not consistent. We both ordered one of the same tacos. Hers was one and a half times larger than mine. In fact, I thought compared to my three, I felt mine were the small street tacos and hers were the full size. Overall, they were still good. Lastly is the price. Like many people have said, it's not cheap. We each had one drink and three tacos each and with tip, it was $49.
We have been to a few places where we could have dinner and a bottle of wine and still only cost $50 including tip. Will we go back, probably so, but probably won't be a habitual place just...
Read moreI've been coming to Mesa for years, always enjoying the food, drinks, and service. However, my experience on 3/7/2025 was the worst yet.
My group of six had finished our food and drinks and paid. We were still enjoying our night when a woman approached us, claiming she had a party of 20 waiting for our seats. Note that Mesa doesn’t take reservations, yet she insisted they’d been waiting 1.5 hours—the same time we’d been seated. Instead of staff handling the situation, they allowed another customer to pressure us—and other seated customers in the area meant for the waiting party—to leave, which was unacceptable.
When we decided to order dessert, a staff member, clearly stressed about the waiting party, asked if we’d move to another table. We complied out of understanding but it shouldn’t have come at the expense of paying customers. Staff later admitted they were unaware the woman had been rushing guests. They comped one dessert, but we had already paid, so further compensation wasn’t an option.
Our issue isn’t with the waiting party (aside from the rude customer) but with Mesa’s handling of the situation. If they knew a large group was on the waitlist, they shouldn’t have seated us there. If they can’t accommodate big parties, they need to set boundaries or implement reservations. This experience was disappointing, and I hope Mesa does better...
