A letter to Joey Pointer, CEO Fleet Feet
Dear Mr. Pointer,
I am enthusiastically writing this feedback to you regarding one of your franchise owners (two actually were involved). Background, I have size 13 4E feet and trying to find a great shoe that I could stand on all day without discomfort has been an incredibly difficult, time-consuming and costly process. My podiatrist recommended HOKA shoes, but my search both online and in person has met with obstacles along the way, mostly, width issues. So many of your shops (and online) go to 2E but that’s it.
So, while visiting my daughter up in Idaho, I saw there was a Fleet Feet store in Meridian. I will be honest. I went there on a Saturday and the store was so busy no one offered to assist me, so I left. I happened to see there was a store in Nampa, and since I was going there, I stopped in.
I was greeted immediately by Alex Mimlitz, who if I’m correct, is the GM for both that store and Meridian. I will cut to the chase and as we eliminated the different HOKA styles, he said, “I know the Bondi 8 will be perfect for you, and it comes in a 4E! The problem is that I don’t have it in stock, and not many stores do. If you give me your name, address and contact information, let me work on getting the shoes sent to you. If you like them, great, and we can do payment over the phone. If not, we’ll figure a way to send them back”. Talk about working way out of the box! I’m in CA, and he’s doing something from Idaho for me, without any money upfront.
Okay, I was skeptical this would happen. He called me a day or so later saying he was working on it, and then text messaged me a few days later, advising with the help of Fleet Feet’s GM in Folsom, Kirk Edgerton, a pair of 13 4E’s were being Fed Ex’d to me from the Folsom location! They are as Alex promised, PERFECT! I contacted him immediately and we did a Visa CC payment over the phone. So simple and satisfying!
I cannot say how much I believe Alex (and Kirk!) are assets to your organization! To go above and beyond the way they did is incredible, and the words “Customer Service” just don’t seem enough here. Read moreI typically don't go out of my way to write reviews, but I had to after the fantastic experience that I had at Nampa's fleet feet yesterday. I feel bad because I don't remember the guy's name, but he greeted my enthusiastically as soon as I walked through the door. I had had a really bad day and was just planning to look around. He asked me about my current running shoes and soon he was explaining how they were the completely wrong running shoe for me. He spent the time taking a scan of my feet, looking at the way I walk and run, explaining the best type of shoe for my feet, helping me try on a bunch of different shoe, sock, and insole combinations. I never felt rushed or pushed into a shoe choice. Infact, I had it down to two different pairs and he wouldn't make the decision for me lol The shoes that I landed on were definitely not the ones I would have chosen without his guidance, but I went running in them last night and my feet felt better than they ever had on a run. He encouraged me to sign up and get involved in local races and when I left he thanked me multiple times for supporting their locally owned store. When I left, my bad mood had been completely reversed and I was excited to go for a run. 10/10 recommend this store. I'll never purchase athletic shoes...
Read moreI have heard a LOT of good things about Hooka brand shoes and that this store sells them. Alex took a 3D picture of my feet and made suggestions as to what kind of shoe would work best for me. He was thoroughly knowledgeable of products, professional, and very friendly. I bought two sets of shoes and one set of insoles. These shoes are high quality and so far are working out well. I stand all day so I need shoes that will support me and nor make my feet hurt.
Also, I would like to add that Alex is just about the sweetest young man I have ever met. I realized that I had left my phone at the store and when I called about it, he actually offered to bring it out to my work. He didn't have to but didn't want me to go without it any longer than necessary. Talk about going the extra mile (literally) for a customer!
