Horrible experience. Didn’t sleep. After a few nights, I was too exhausted to attend my week long workshop and had to stay in my room trying to rest on an uncomfortable bed. After noon, I stumbled downstairs, delirious, and said to the front desk “I’m not getting much sleep, the bed is really uncomfortable.” She made a sour face and looked away at her computer, asking what room I was in. I told her, and she just sat there typing. I asked if I could switch hotels and cancel the rest of my booking. She typed for a while and then told me I was only booked until May 2, the next day. I told her it was paid until May 5. She told me again I was checking out tomorrow and had to deal with anything through Expedia. Had I not talked to her, I would have been at my workshop the next day (hopefully) unaware that they were expecting me to be gone. So now I had 2 things to fix. I went up to my room to call Expedia. They told me that cancellations had to be dealt with through the hotel. Expedia put me on hold for about 15 minutes while they called the front desk. When they came back on the line, I got a vague answer that my refund request was sent to “the hotel’s accountant” and that I would have to wait until tomorrow for an answer. Does this place have a manager even? Did the front desk convey to the manager I wasn’t getting any sleep? I was informed I couldn’t check out today because it was past checkout time and they were going to charge me for another night regardless. The Hilton across the street had 2 rooms left for the rest of my stay, so in desperation I booked with them. For the next night of course, because I was now forced to stay at the Brentwood for another night. The Hilton were incredibly apologetic for my experience at the Brentwood and very helpful. The next morning, i checked out of the Brentwood, being told by a different front desk person that they didn’t see why getting a refund would be an issue, which I was relieved to hear. I checked in at the Hilton, and I received an email from Expedia that afternoon saying they were still waiting for an answer from the Brentwood about what was going on with my refund. It wasn’t until the day after I was told it was “policy” to not refund me. On top of that, the email said that I couldn’t check out “a day early.” So they STILL thought I was checking out May 2nd, even though they received full payment for 3 more nights after that. Which they have just decided to keep. They never apologized for the uncomfortable bed or tried to do anything about that, and never tried to fix the amount of nights I actually booked for. And refused to let me check out when I was obviously unhappy, because it was past check out time. As for the bed, it was hard and uneven, had a ridge in the middle where you’d just roll off on either side, and the pillows were lumpy and small. I woke up with back pain multiple times during the night when I finally did fall asleep. Book your stay at the Hilton Suites - they have managers actually there on duty, their rooms are amazing - and the cost is exactly the same. They even kept my food for the fridge cold and stocked it in my room once my room was ready and I was already off to my workshop (which they gave me a free ride to in their shuttle.) they also gave me free breakfast and free wifi. It was the first time I actually felt human at a hotel since I arrived...
Read moreThey left an ozone generator running in our room, which caused us to be seriously ill the whole night, and had us coughing up green stuff. Our lungs felt shredded. There was a distinct odor in the room when we checked in, but it was more of a chemical smell, so we just attributed it to cleaning agents. By 1 am, we were up off and on with headaches and an uncomfortable cough. It wasn't until the next morning when I saw the label on the random black box that said "not to be used in occupied spaces". Well that threw a red flag, and immediately sent me down the rabbit hole of warnings against ozone generators. We checked out, and the guy at the desk seemed very alarmed that it was left running the whole time. He gave us the email to the GM, and we left. Severe long term effects can result after 8 hours of exposure. We were in there about 14 hours. So that's unsettling. I messaged the GM as soon as we got home, to which he responded with "I'll forward this to our attorney". I had to reach out again before ever hearing from their attorney, but when he did respond, he said his client would be inclined to refund our stay of we agree to signing a non-disclosure agreement. I explained my reluctance to signing based on the potential for lasting effects, but ultimately decided I wasn't wanting a long drawn out process, so we agreed to sign whatever just so we could get our refund. After agreeing to their own terms, crickets... the attorney wouldn't respond. In fact, I sent probably 3 emails before the attorney responded this morning. He stated they would have refunded our money of we had signed, but we refused. Seriously?!?!?! I mean you don't have to be an attorney to know how email trails work. Yhey're time stamped and everything. So now he claims he can't satisfy me, and will no longer respond. That's fine. I would have signed the non-disclosure agreement before, but since I didn't, TRAVELERS BEWARE!!! Do not stay at this hotel!!!!! Especially under the misconception that it's somehow safer because it's...
