I’ve been seeing Louie for several months now and been able to personally experience her professional talents in different ways. When I was first lucky enough to sit in her chair, I had a short cut and got to watch her do absolute wonders with her razor work. Like… an entire haircut done with a straight razor - it was like magic. She expertly could see what needed to be trimmed just so to get my desired look. Having never had a razor cut before it was really cool to watch! We evolved over time toward a precision blunt cut (I’m not a professional, if I’m not using the right language here forgive me!). Knowing we were in a growing out phase but how much I loved that really sleek precise bob (?), somehow Louie was able to give me the look I was so excited about without looking like I was in an awkward growing out phase! I also have gotten to enjoy several color experiences with her. I’m naturally a brunette, so she took me blonde and then made a REALLY cool custom vivid purple. As a fun little aside I got to learn something about the science of hair color, which I was into. We’ve also done a deeper custom shade of purple as the season started to change which was also impossibly cool.
So that’s the work part - obviously she’s talented. The reason I personally keep coming back (including following her to her new salon as her career journey has progressed - shout out M Hair Studio for the very chill, very accepting vibes!!) is because Louie is a just good person. She’s an interested listener, kind and empathetic, but she is comfortable in silence as well if you aren’t feeling chatty. Her interests outside of her passion for hair are also really cool - she’s a reiki healer, studying how to make different tinctures and other natural methods of healing. She’s got hilarious and adorable fur babies. She’s done the inner work for herself and is interested in talking about personal growth experiences. She’s also just funny and charming and engaging.

But I have been coming to this spot for years and booked an appt, last weekend for Tuesday of this week and somehow it booked it for that day (Sunday) I know I selected the 19th. I wouldn’t have tried because google said they weren’t even open on Sundays (proof below because they have since changed it). I was very surprised to receive an email saying thank you for your visit with a receipt. Sure enough I checked my bank and had been charged. I immediately tried to call twice, both times going to voicemail and then disconnecting when I tried to leave a message, further making me believe that they weren’t even open. I then sent an email. Never heard back from them. Then called back on Tuesday which was the next day google says they were open. Fully believing there was some kind of mix up and that they would refund me or reschedule my appt. Instead they offer me 20% off my next haircut which is unacceptable. Pretty poor business practice considering I have been here several times and they would have kept my business. Instead the person I spoke to, assuming it’s the owner, lied and said they called me on Sunday (I had no missed calls) and that they emailed me back (they didn’t) then got defensive when I said it didn’t even say they were open on Sundays when you google them you would think when they saw that they would call me back and apologize, instead they just changed it. Pretty dishonest and a silly way to run a business if you ask me. Anyways I am disputing on my credit card. Not to mention $77 for a mens haircut is robbery, get over yourselves. Read moreI’ve been a loyal client at M. Hair Studio for over six years, and I’ve always appreciated the quality of service provided. Their online booking process can be confusing. I made an honest mistake and tried to add a haircut to an already booked color appt. I inadvertently made it for the next day and did not realize it until I was charged. I was charged an $88 fee, and when I contacted the M Hair Studio to explain the situation, I was informed that the fee could not be waived, despite my long-standing relationship with this business.
I understand policies need to be followed, but I believe my situation merits some consideration, especially as this was an honest mistake on my part. I’ve always respected the studio’s time and policies, and I was disappointed that my loyalty as a client wasn’t acknowledged in this case. I will not be going back.
**Update in response to the owner: There are a number of untruths in your statement. I stand by what I said. The $88 was only offered after I left this review. I tried to sort this out prior, but Mandi denied my request to waive the fee.
