My 2 year old iPad’s Pro’s charging port repair was apparently more complicated than expected. Was told 3-5 days and instead of me having to call after 5 days to know the status, a better customer service option would have been for them to call and tell me it would take longer than predicted. When I did call or stop in, all I was told for the next three days was that it was next in the queue. For 3 days? Does that mean nobody’s orders were being worked on at all while mine just sat there? I asked about this on day of following up and was told that on Sunday they only have one tech working who does just warranty repairs? Why wasn’t I told that on Sunday when I called instead of “it’s next to be worked on”? One day they said they’d call me to let me know the status later that day and nobody did. Very poor communication.
I can’t prove this but my gut tells me when they opened it up to repair the charging port they accidentally broke something else and were trying desperately to fix it without letting me know. They told me the capacitor was bad and had tried several times to replace it. I know nothing about the guts of an iPad, and I could be wrong, but seems like swapping that out would be easy for a place that specializes in this.
I was told the last time I called that because it had taken twice as long as expected if they were unable to fix it I wouldn’t be charged anything which is a nice gesture. I was charged for the repair, which is fair because it works sort of. Was told that because it was an ordeal, I’d get the new customer discount. I was a new customer to begin with and I’m a little irritated I wasn’t quoted the new customer price initially. So he didn’t actually do me any favors.
The final outcome is it charges very slowly no matter what configuration of cord/outlet/wall charger/direct USB port I use. It used to, but no longer stays at 100% when it’s plugged while I’m using it. At pickup I asked what happens if it wasn’t working like normal when I get it home and was told no further repairs could be made. No type of warranty on the repair they did.
Not the worst experience I’ve had with a business but not a place I’d recommend, or use again, since there are...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars, I would. We have been back and forth with this company to get my computer fixed for the past 4-6 weeks.
My computer is crucial to my career, as it is to most. I worked my schedule to take the day off to bring in the computer. My husband called ahead of time and explain the situation. Whoever he spoke with assured him that they would only need one day to look at it. We take it in, they didn’t have time to look at. So, we had to go pick it up, and I had to take more time off from my job to allow for my computer to be taken in again.
We take it in the second time, they look at it, figure out which part they need. It seems as though we’re heading in the right direction! Wrong.
Weeks go by. The part finally comes in. We arrange my schedule, take the computer in. They disassemble to install the new part only to find out they order the WRONG part. Whatever they did in the process ALSO broke my keyboard. So now, I have the original issue + a non-working keyboard. They were kind enough to offer us an external keyboard to borrow in the meantime. We declined, as we have one.
Upon returning home with the computer. I turn it on and realize that my internet won’t connect. We reset our router, etc. etc. Internet is working on our phones, Apple TV, Nest, additional laptops, but not mine. So whatever they did in their attempt to install the incorrect part has now disabled my computer from being able to connect to the internet via WiFi.
I would never recommend this company to anyone. At this point, I’d like to just receive any deposits we’ve paid and take our business elsewhere.
Edit: After a phone call to corporate and the store manager and another visit to the store, my computer is finally fixed. Despite all of the ridiculous hassle, they did refund us in full and were...
Read moreLet’s start with the good:
The employee working the front desk every time I was in this store was great. Sometimes a little curt but otherwise friendly, kind, and provided great service. They are the only reason I’m giving two stars.
Now for the bad:
I shattered my iPhone 14 screen and needed a replacement. I chose Ubreakifix because they offered certified OEM apple parts.
Upon arriving at Ubreakifix there was a menu of options, the “best” option clearly stated that the parts would be OEM apple parts. I was charged $378 for the screen replacement (sadly I didn’t have insurance in place).
When I got home there was a notification on my phone. When I followed it, the settings app showed a warning stating that my phone detected a part that was not manufactured by apple.
I called the store the next day and they said, the option I paid for was OEM. That the OEM part would be $578. I asked if I could get my broken screen put back on my phone and get a refund. They said yes.
The two days later I go in the get a refund. I pointed out that the menu of options clearly stated that I chose an OEM part for the price I originally paid.
The employee looked surprised when they realized the mistake. They called the owner and was told that the menu options had changed.
They did not honor the advertised menu option. Even though it was right there in writing.
As a business owner myself, I believe they should have honored the advertised option. It’s what I would have done and it would have been the right thing to do.
For now, I’m back to my old screen waiting for my Genius Bar appointment. Because a genuine apple screen repair straight from the source only costs $389. Not $578 like from Ubreakifix.
I don’t recommend them unless you have an Asurion...
