I came here for the first time earlier this week with a friend, and it was so cool. The first thing you'll notice is all the plants, which bring so much life to the atmosphere. The area's structure itself is dome-like and sort of rugged, so I can see why the vibrant greenery is the main focus. They had some nice-looking drinks on the menu, but I ended up taking the easy route and just ordering the same thing as my friend (Dr. Robot on tap). We received our drinks and found our way to a spot with some chairs shaped like big stones; I loved the look of them, but I might choose somewhere just a little comfier next time.
I ordered a Southwest Black Bean Wrap, labeled vegan on the menu (yessss!). I was pretty hungry, so I was ready for this wrap. It was served cold, which I didn't really mind. Although, I think I was expecting something slightly grilled, with that crispy tortilla crunch around it. I knew there would be avocado in it - as someone who doesn't like huge chunks of plain avocado, but likes guacamole, I thought the amount in the wrap was just right. The dressing was sweet and tangy (and dripped out the bottom/got a little messy towards the end). The dish's flavor seemed to heavily rely on the dressing, which did a pretty good job, considering all the elements. I enjoyed the wrap overall, I ate it quickly, and I was thankful for a healthy, labeled, vegan-as-is item on the menu. But I finished it thinking, "Hm, where's the pizzazz?" I believe it would benefit from one more added ingredient, maybe something flavorful or crunchy that can absorb some of the dressing. Perhaps just cooking/seasoning the black beans and grilling the tortilla is the key.
With an ambiance like this one and with a standout, crave-able vegan item on the menu, a plant lover like me could walk away feeling not only satisfied, but...
Read moreHONESTLY, this place is my new fave. The atmosphere is like no other place. The pictures do not do it justice. There are literally plants everywhere without it being creepy and gross (or smelly). The vibe is chill yet it is still a happening place. The cocktails are good and they have a number of happy "all day" specials. There is also a decent mocktail selection. (The ginger tonic is very refreshing.) You can eat at the bar and or you can sit at a variety of tables and lounge areas, most of which you cannot see unless you walk farther back into the restaurant. There are so many good choices on the menu it is hard to decide. The grilled cheese and tomato soup is excellent. I have also enjoyed the taco salad with roasted chicken and the turkey sandwich. My daughter raves about the smashburger. Basically, anything that comes on bread is terrific because the bread is made in house. You order at the bar and they bring the food to you but it almost always comes quite quickly, even when they are busy. Parking can be difficult but you can park across the street easily. Highly recommend checking this place out if you have never been. It is especially enjoyable when the weather is nice outside. Wear comfortable clothes-- you'll want to hang out...
