Iâve been a resident at Windsor Gardens for about a year and half now due to renal failure yes Im on hemodialysis for the past 11 years. Having kidney failure cause you to have more Dr. visits as well as hospitalizations due to complications. In the past 11 years in this journey i have been 5 different facilities and this one by far is the best one Iâve in. Yes its a little outdated but their working on improving and bring it more up to date. Just like alot of place and business theres always room for improvement with that said. My first stay was in Aug 2022 it was a short 3 month stay due to UTI it was a very pleasant and comfortable stay love the staff so much so that when I went back to the hospital in Aug 2023 for Calciphylaxis problems due to yes complications of kidney failure I was giving 3 choices, Windsor Gardens been one of those choices, i chose it again because my previous stay was excellent and pleasant. Also the staff made it more pleasant by treating their residents like family and making sure every resident gets flowers and a card for their birthday. For me those little details makes a place worth staying or having ill family come here. When i came back I was greeted by the beautiful receptionist Bianca who has always has a bubbly, delightful personality, and Megan always willing to help family and residents alike, as well as Mr Heriberto Hernandez the facility director always been a gentleman and making sure you are comfortable and well taken care by his staff, and the ladies in the business office like Ms. Jobeth, Ms. Isamar, Mrs. Carmen, Mrs. Catalina and Ms. Ruby the newest addition to the staff always going over and beyond to make sure you are confortable and your needs are met while you are a resident no matter if your short or long term. Always looking out making sure you insurance and documentation is in order and up to date and theirs any issues they go out of their way and time to fix any detail. The social workers Ms. Yamilett, Mrs. Judith and Mrs. Shy are always going over and beyond to make sure all your Doctors appointments and transportation needs are met in a timely manner. The Nursing Staff are always making sure you get all your medications and treatment on time, the treatment nurse Raquel, Michelle and Loraine they are the exceptional at what they do always friendly and smiling and giggling they make treatment bearable and less painful as possible. The floor nurses Anthony, Issac, Mikal, Salvacion, Allyssa, Addy, Quin Quin, Gina, Jelico are always helping you and friendly with the residents and family. The CNAâs who you usually have contact with residents 95% of the time are always in a great mood willing to help with everything including getting dressed, showering and even shaving. The CNAâS thats stand out are Dian, Erica, Valeria D. Esmeralda, Rosa Jennifer, Jessenia I. Valeria V. Evelyn, Monica, Alan, Fernando, Paul, Juan Pablo, Johnathon, Maya, Lily, Lionel, Luz, Estela, John, Ryan, Noel they all give it there best. They make sure you get your meals and if you donât like that meal they go back to the kitchen and get you an alternative. The Activities ladies Maciel and Sylvia always having some group thing going whether its bingo, loteria, prayer service or something different to make the time for long term residents more pleasant. Customers service or Patient service is a difficult profession you cannot satisfy everyone, there always someone is going to complain with that said all these individuals do their best at all times. The occupational and physical therapy are always helping the residents to get their adecĂșate and necessary therapy making sure everyone gets well and back to where they were before coming here. Even the kitchen staff, housekeeping and maintenance are friendly and helpful to the residents and the family. I would highly recommend this facility to anybody and any friend in need of a skilled nursing facility like i said their is always room for improvement and they are actually working on it themselves I would give this place 5 stars all day...
Read moreAfter a long journey my next stop was Windsor Garden, in National City, CA. I would like to thank the team but most importantly that made it all happen for me while my time being there only as a month resident, Eddie. Without him, this center would not happen. He had put his patients needs before his. When I had first arrived, I was in a wheelchair with my left leg contracted and one of the youngest patient there. I wasnât able to walk due to an immediate surgery on my left thigh that later was a infection that had to be removed and because of it, I was diagnosed Lupus (auto-immune disease). Eddie and his physical therapy team helped me with my journey. Long story short I told him before I was discharged from the nursing home, âEddie, when I get better, and when I will start walking again, I will come visit you and tell you thank you for all your help along with your team.â One year and two months later, I decided to stop by, by divine on Sep. 7th 2022 around 4 pm. I had felt that it was time for me to go back to the place that made it last happen and a place I called home. I was so happy to see some familiar faces as I entered the building on both walking legs and feet now. My heart felt overjoyed because last year I entered in a wheelchair. But in time I had moved on to crutches, a walker, then it was cane â„ïž Windsor Gardens in National City, CA. Please continue what you do best for the patients. I made it this far â„ïž Your...
Read moreIf your insurance refers you here for rehab therapy, DO NOT GO. If you care for your loved one, do not leave them here.
I have never written a review for anything, but this place is unsafe.
The staff, though some are personally nice enough, do not readily respond to call buttons. A one to three hour wait is not uncommon. The assigned facility doctor, who never actually met me, disregarded all my surgeonâs discharge instructions and refused to discharge me. The meals were scant, bland and not balanced nutrition for anyone, but especially deficient after a surgery with blood loss. The premises is not maintained with unmoving sliding doors, patchwork painted walls, forever running toilets, weedy courtyards and broken window blinds.
I will be filing complaints with their corporate office (they are unable to provide a phone number), the state board of licensing, Medicare (as their highest rated county provider) and the county ombudsman for elder abuse. I have already filed a complaint with my...
