About one year ago, SDI came and installed a home theatre system for us. It included a receiver, speakers, and then wiring in an existing projector and collection of devices. The installation was done professionally, and with minimal poking of holes in our finished basement. They patched over the holes with blank wall plates. The sound system that was chosen has worked really well for us. It's great for movies and video games, and pretty good for talking-head type of news stuff. The price was really reasonable for what we got. I wanted to wait a year to make sure we didn't run into any issues ... and we haven't! A really solid install.

The only changes we've made to the system in the intervening year: (a) Unbundled the cables for the Nintendo Switch so that the system could be transported to a friend's house. They like to tie up all of the cables to make the install look neat and tidy (good!), but in hindsight tying in the Nintendo Switch cables wasn't what I wanted. Maybe something to think about while you're getting your own install. (b) Switched the power bar to one of these eco ones, so that some devices get no power when the receiver is off. Some of my devices have a noticeable background power drain. So again, if this is something you care about, maybe talk to these folks about it upfront.

A word of caution to those folks comparing this against other installers. As of a year ago, one of the other installers I was looking at had a conflicting interest they weren't upfront about: they were employed by a speaker manufacturer, and were pushing that manufacturer's speakers. Just keep an eye out for that kind of stuff.

I chose SDI offer to install a home theater out of competing offers presented to me by 5 companies - since SDI offer was by far the best, in terms of price, quality and installation simplicity. And I wasn't disappointed - Bernie and Dylan did a fantastic job installing all the equipment (screen, projector, 7 speakers + subwoofer, receiver etc.), doing the wiring while preserving the look of the room, and setting the whole system up - it required some creative solutioning which I highly appreciate. I also appreciate Bernie coming back on short notice to help me finish the sound set up and making sure everything works well.
