Food was incredibly mediocre. I ordered the General Tso's chicken lunch special, thinking it was a safe option since I haven't eaten the food from here before.
Now I've had a lot of Chinese cuisines in my day, including when I briefly lived in China, but I wanted to go ahead and get something that is an American-Chinese food staple. Pretty basic, hard to mess up.
Maybe that was my mistake as the food I got was just,... bland and listless. The fried rice was dry, the fried chicken was soggy, and celery??? Why Celery? Much less, if you're going to use celery at a Chinese restaurant, maybe use Chinese Celery and not American celery? It completely over powered the taste of the sauce (or lack thereof) and a couple mushrooms did not make up for the severe lack of vegetables.
Likewise, the 'special' of the day that I ordered as the side (to avoid the chicken side) was just more of the same chicken that hadn't been coated in sauce. So my meal was a ton of not very well fried Chicken and a giant heap of rice. Honestly I should have just gotten the same food for cheaper at a mall, because at least I know what the quality is there and this was far below that.
By far the most bland and disappointing meal. Two stars because it was edible and staff...
Read moreI had tried this restaurant a few times in the past and was completely unimpressed. It has now been a few years since I have tried them so I thought I would try them again. It was 6:00pm on a Friday evening and the restaurant was about 10% full. We ordered pan fried Peking ravioli, crispy scallop in garlic sauce, Sichuan spicy pork and pork fried rice. Pricing and portions were. Both reasonable. The ravioli and the scallops were the highlights. The pork was a bit bland for a "spicy" dish. The rice was good, not overly salty as it is many other places. In general the food was hot and tasted freshly prepared. Overall it was a good experience. Far better then they had been in years past. I gave them 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐. Update: I recently tried their moo shu chicken and scallion pancakes. The pancakes were quite good. Fried crispy and not greasy. The moo shu was a little on the bland side. The flavor was tasty but lacking depth. Lots of crunchy cabbage but was missing some of the varieties of mushrooms I have found in other local moo Shus. Also, the cabbage could have been shredded a bit finer. The portions on the take out were good sized. Overall a...
Read moreQuick trip to the New England Aquarium and a room at the Homewood Suites by Hiltonin Needham Mass. nothing to eat. Googled nearest places to eat and Found that this place (Mandarin Cuisine). The exterior was really not appealing. However, the inside was classic. Winston our server was extremely polite and attentive and dammnnn. The appetizers came, and they were delicious. The fried wings were crispy done well and soooo good. The scallion pancake was crispy hottt excellent. Our 8 year old a vey picky eater said it was better than McDonald’s. 100%. The bbq pork spare ribs was awesome. Not too sweet and not over sauced hot to the touch. The crispy orange chicken was so so good. The shrimp fried rice just right. I had the sizzling seafood platter and I’m telling you, perfection. The vegetables spot on, the seafood and the sauce with the vegetables was amazing. I could go on. Worth every bite and every...
