So, can anyone tell me why I was followed around the store as if I was going to steal something?
Myself, a 23 year old white woman, and my boyfriend, 22 year old Hispanic man, were walking downtown and doing some light shopping. We walk into the store, there is no one there except two workers, and there’s an instant cold greeting, but I ignored it because I try not to judge. But then the whole time in the store we were followed. Our every move was watched by this white lady just a few feet behind us. Yes we are young, but what was the justification behind the judgement? We’re both friendly and well known to some in our local community. We didn’t stay long because we didn’t feel welcome. But we did go next door to Tricia’s Treasures, where we felt very at home and didn’t feel nervous to touch or purchase things.
