The younger woman with long brown hair, who wears glasses, and was working at the front desk at closing time on Feb 5 needs a MAJOR attitude reboot and performance review by management. I walked into the library about 10 mins before closing and was browsing the DVD section downstairs when I heard an announcement on the intercom saying, "2nd floor all clear...1st floor all clear." Assuming they were now closed I gathered my materials to check out when she came out from behind the desk and in THE MOST condescending tone said "UH, EXCUSE ME. We're closed now. You need to checkout NOW and LEAVE." I apologized and literally ran to the self service kiosk to checkout as fast as I could. As I was entering my information she yelled over the intercom "Uhhh...nevermind", which was followed by cackles and laughter from another female employee who was working downstairs whose behavior was equally disgusting. Still dissastisified with the abuses she had hurled at me, she then turned to me and in the same demeaning tone said, "Just bring your stuff up here because you're taking too long." I again apologized profusely for the confusion as I never heard the closing announcement. My apology was rejected and she lectured me about how they ALWAYS make that announcement. She then proceeded to check out my items while rolling her eyes the entire time, slamming the items down onto the counter, and clenching her jaw so tightly that I could see it bulging through her improperly worn mask. God forbid she had to stay 3 minutes past 4 pm. It took everything inside of me not to engage on her classless level and leave with dignity. According to several other reviews I've read, this particular branch has issues with professionalism and staff conduct. Perhaps they should remember that it's our tax dollars that pay their salaries and that they exist to serve the community. As if the totally inappropriate grandma leggings she decided to wear to work that day weren't bad enough, she had the GALL to try to reprimand me for having to do her job. Her behavior was beyond despicable and appalling and she should be made thoroughly aware. I will be sure to share my experience with the district/regional manager in hopes that this never happens again to...
Read moreI use the Neenah Library primarily for my children. The library offers so many fun group times and reading programs...summer entertainment shows, movies played, story hour, reading with dogs, craft time, reading challenges, and that is just part of what I know they offer. My kids love to attend them, and I love to see them having fun with books. It has a great space for the kids to enjoy visiting, with their reading 'tent,' stuffed animals and pillows, puppets, puzzles, and the rotating table toys. I also love the impressive amount of children's books they have. We have gone weekly for years and the kids still have no problems finding new fun books to explore. It is really nice that they have the different youth sections separate from the adults (downstairs), so if the kids are not whispering it doesn't distract too many people. I love all of the self check out stations, but my kids love them even more. They enjoy being able to scan their own material, the only thing is that I wish there was one back towards the kids dept more so parents could check out while kids are playing. I think one of the best things about the library is they are connected to several other libraries. If I want a book there is a great chance that one of their connected libraries will have it. I put it on hold from my computer and it is transported to Neenah for me and set out on the shelf for me to grab. If I ever am able to come to the library by myself, it is always nice to sit by the wall of windows that face the water and read. The library has started to sell coffee and tea at the front desk, so you could easily get lost there for hours. The staff that I have encountered are always nice and friendly. I was very impressed with the staff 'upstairs' helping an elderly man not too long ago trying to figure out his camera. They took the time to explain to him how to do everything and I was taken back how nice it was for them to do that when he had no one else to help him. Overall, I am very happy to have the library we do in our community and look forward to our weekly-sometimes 4x a week- trips to...
Read moreThis is the first complaint i’ve ever made for a place. Nothings wrong with this library it’s just one employee. I went to get a library card and the lady at the front desk told me i already had an account. I ask her if i could get a card and she told me no. I told her i never got one and she told me that’s a lie because everyone gets one when they make an account. I was being very polite to her and trying to explain i never got a card but she wouldn’t give me one. After 10 minutes i went back down to the desk to try again but with a different person. The nice guy that was helping me was going to get me a card right away and he asked no questions. I told him i have an account i just never got a card. All of a sudden the lady from before came up and told him i don’t need a card and he can’t give me one because i’ve already gotten one but i explained again i never did. After i’ve told them 4 times she had an attitude and told me i had to buy a replacement. I just wish she would listen to me and let me explain but she never did. She kept shutting me down and kept saying i was lying because in her words “everybody get a card when they make an account so you have...
