I use to love coming here and now I don't know if I'll ever come back. I left 2 stars and not one because there's two servers who are absolutely magnificent and are still there. A tall Peruvian or Argentinean guy, but I forgot his name and ofcourse Mary Lou! They are why I can't bring myself to put 1 star. However, the last server I had straight denied my words to the owner right infront of me, and before hand told me there's nothing she could do because that's how I ordered it. I ordered the Taco Taco's with no modifications. Really? Took two bites past eating the steak taco (1/4) the meal and couldn't do it. The pork was so dry and I told that waitress and so she took my plate and let me sit there the entire time my family ate infront of me. Didn't even ask if i wanted anything else. Here's the thing, I hope the owner reads this and realizes that people like that tall guy and Mary Lou should lead a team meeting and address these things with other wait staff before they open EVERY DAY! Also, I'm a guy with a degree in Marketing and Business so I understand what the owner is trying to accomplish but he needs to understand the geographical location of his business and the demographic that surrounds his area. Yes, there's multi million dollar homes down the road along the lake but the median household Salary is $52,271 (current according to Google data) and the average cost for a Mexican cuisine entre is $10.25. I ordered an appetizer called hot kisses and it was 4 shrimp with a little bacon wrapped with a pepper for over $17 dollars. My multi (4) taco entre was $26 before taxes... the cheapest drink we ordered was $11 and no the waitress that suggested those drinks did not tell us that the ones she suggested where $12+. Okay, so why did I order a $16 appetizer and a $26 entre? I wanted to try things new because I always ordered the Moljette or whatever it's called (volcano bowl for two) Never once had an issue and it is out of this world good! So damn good I use to go once a week sometimes. My suggestion to the owner is, understand your competition. Yes you have a higher class market segment that comes in but, to stay busy and even become a restaurant that has a 2+ hour wait list even in the middle of the week, you MUST CATER TO MULTIPLE MARKET SEGMENTS which means multiple demographics and respect the data. The data says $52,271 for median household income. Are those families going to come to your restaurant and buy $11+ small drinks and $21+ entrees? Absolutely not, and maybe not even on an anniversary. You have to offer rail drinks at competitive prices, it's WI we could care less about the quality sometimes, you have to offer something else food wise in the competition's price range. At least 2 entrees in that $10-12 that are really flavorful. But train your wait staff to upsell everything. That's how you make satisfied customers and good money. Please, if you are the owner, don't take this the wrong way, you are in a prime location, utilize it and respect the data. Also, don't take offense but that salsa is absolutely terrible... why is served hot? I challenge you to put out store bought salsa out of a jar with saltier chips and your chips and your warm marinara sauce and just have your customers write down on a little printed survey (just use Microsoft Word and put 8 on a page and cut it out) and I'll bet a $1000 90% will say that warm tomato soup your serving and saltless chips gotta go. Serve a diced homemade salsa or something. Also, salty chips leads to more drinks (rail drinks). it's okay to have cheap booze in a high class restaurant. If you think major clubs and restaurants make more off top shelf liquor then rail, you are Sooooo wrong. I have a degree in Management and Marketing and have a ton of advice I am willing to give you for free. Kindly respond back and I will come meet with you and then...
Read moreThe waiter we had was a bit pushy with the "specials" menu, and our party all agreed he was a little over the top. The menu was full of exciting choices and it was hard to decide. I ended up with the house scratch margarita, the Compechanos tacos and of course the gringos favorite, complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was served warm and was more like a runny soup, not real flavorful and kind of disappointing. The margarita was decent, a little too much orange flavor, and for $12, was too small. That being said, there was enough patron in there to qualify for 2 margaritas at most other Mexican restaurants. Finally, the compechanos: the corn tortillas were delicious, but everything else, not so much. I didn't even taste the chorizo, as it was so well done, its flavors just blended in with the skirt steak. There was not a whole lot of flavor either. For $16.95, I was very disappointed. The side of guacamole was very fresh and tasty. Overall, I was pretty let down by my Zacatecas experience. $35 for myself with just an entree and one margarita was way too much money for the quality of food and service. I would call myself a Mexican restaurant aficiodado, and I can say that I have had better gourmet Mexican cuisine at several other...
Read moreMy recent visit to this Mexican restaurant was extremely disappointing and left much to be desired. Upon being seated, I ordered a Diet Coke while my girlfriend requested water. Despite the initial promise of complimentary chips and salsa from an older gentleman who informed us of the bi-weekly specials, these never arrived.
We endured a lengthy wait of over 20 minutes for any form of service while observing other tables, which had arrived after us, receiving attention. It is important to note that the restaurant was not busy, with only four tables occupied, a few patrons at the bar, and some outside.
Our table was situated near the kitchen and the exit to the outdoor seating area, yet multiple staff members passed us without acknowledgment. After nearly 30 minutes of being ignored, I left $2 on my plate for the Diet Coke and decided to leave. As we exited, the host was engaged in conversation with another gentleman, seemingly unaware or unconcerned about our plight.
While the specials looked promising, the level of service was profoundly underwhelming. This experience was one of the worst I have ever encountered at a restaurant, and as a result, we do not plan...
