As far as bowling alleys go, this place is kind of a dump. Don't get me wrong, the bowling equipment works, and they have a snazzy/modern jukebox (the touchscreen kind with lots of music choices that are all expensive). However, the bathrooms are atrocious, the pool tables are in poor condition, and the customer service is subpar.
As it is a bowling alley, expect expensive. It's $4/game/person and $2 for shoes.
Other items of note:
No outside food or drinks are allowed. This isn't unusual, I just don't want you to be surprised or accidentally bring in your beverage with you. They'll make a fuss and give you the stink eye. Not being able to bring in my own water is a big downer for me and is contributing to my rating, especially since they don't have a water fountain. So if that type of thing doesn't bother you, add one star in your head.
Please don't use the restroom unless it's a dire emergency. You'll thank me.
They serve beer, soda, pizza, candy, etc.
They have a sign posted at every bowling station that says, "no children unless participating in the little league." It doesn't sound particularly child-friendly, but I've seen plenty of kids there.
They have what's called "cosmic bowling" on Fridays and Saturdays. This means you pay $10, shoes included, for unlimited bowling from 9pm-midnight in a blacklight setting with disco lights and loud music. It's pretty crowded, but a fun time.
Don't expect particularly great customer service. In my visit today, for instance, I requested size 10 shoes. They were too small. It turns out he gave me size 9 shoes. No big deal, I'll just go get a bigger size. When I ask to replace them for a different size, he gruffly asks what's wrong with the ones he gave me.
I don't think he was trying to be gruff/rude, though. Having worked management in fast food, I know full well how important tone of voice and perception are when it comes to customer service. I think he just needs to work on that.
To the owner of the alley: I will change to a 5 ⭐ rating if the following occurs:
Find a way to regularly clean your restrooms so they don't look like I'll get a disease from using them.
Work on your customer service skills. Maybe smile and have a good time. Pay extra attention to your tone of voice and word choice. Believe me, it makes a world of difference.
Replace/repair your pool tables. I don't know which is cheaper, but it needs done. It makes your bowling alley appear dumpy.
Remove the stipulation of no outside food or drink. As I understand the reason for said stipulation, I provide the following compromises: a. Install a water fountain for guest use, or b. Advertise free water to bowlers.
Imagine a sign that says, "Please, no outside food or drinks. Come enjoy some refreshing sodas, adult beverages and snag a great deal on our freshly made delights. Complimentary water provided to our guests upon request."
I will add 1 ⭐ for each item addressed or corrected 🙂
I also suggest you update your website. I noticed several typos, and your Youth Programs page info says: Youth leagues for 2017-2018...
Read moreSo I generally don't do this, but this is my 2nd bad experience with a business so here it is... The last week of September I made a reservation for the kids and I to go cosmic bowling at Edgewood Bowling Center on September 30th. On the phone I told the employee that the kids would need bumpers. They asked me their ages and I told them ( 9 & 10) and was assured that would be no problem. I show up that Saturday, pay $50 for our shoes and bowling and then I'm informed that my kids are too big for bumpers...even though it was fine on the phone 3 days prior. I inform staff that if my kids wouldn't be disappointed I would go somewhere else. So I decided to give it a 2nd chance this weekend (mostly bc there's not a lot to do in Neosho). I called Tuesday and reserved a lane (I asked for an end lane bc I'm aware my kids can be a distraction). We get there tonight and the girl (same girl that wouldn't honor their word for the bumpers) says "Well cosmic bowling starts at 8 now so we gave your lane away when you didn't show up." Since this is a new practice I would think they'd mention this on the phone when you call to make the reservation? Maybe I'm just used to a little more common...
Read moreFirst , the reason why i'm giving a one star the gentleman that was there don't know if his the owner or just a manager was kind of Snippish and rude. Me and my partner played one game and it was 12 dollars total. 4 dollars per person a game and 2 dollar shoe rental per person. I was looking at the sign to understand the pricing that's when he started to get a little snippish and he popped off his the cheapest in the region. And I quoted "no joplin is cheaper" he said he knows the owner's and he offered I will give you your money back I said no thanks not coming back.
If a customer was just asking a question to understand the prices better going off the board don't be offended or rude about it. not everyone is...
