The food can be said to be decent as far as outside restaurant food is concerned versus the home cooked meal like my mother cooks at home. I ate Paneer and Rice platter and also not too much salad like someone before me on Google review I saw complained which is different from the platter I ordered. On March 17th, 2025 when I went there the young boy that served me was nice and moral and ethical in his behavior to serve me. This older gentleman his name Mitikesh G who made my receipt on March 19th,2025. But when I ordered the paneer Tikka platter on the menu it said $14.50 but he is saying it is $15.50. Then I pointed him out in the menu and he pointed to the small print prices subject to change at any time without notice on the digital board like that. I can understand if printing updated paper menu is hard as I am thinking about it while composing the text on the Google review page. But on the digital board they should have the updated price. But anyways they should not change the price like that. Indian restaurants seemed expensive anywhere I go in New Jersey and seemed like this restaurant was cheaper than most of the Indian restaurants I remember going to ever in memory in the last couple of years. I went to this place because it was open till 3 am as the subway at Edison New Jersey was closing at 11 pm and usually my mother has advised not to go closing time as the food is bad as closing and I have experienced that myself even after my mother telling me me that. But because I had to or felt like I had to based on my situation and circumstances I still did as I needed to eat. Like seriously having bad qualities and taking advantage of a system in a bad way it is not good to make profit cheating and giving people bad experience and bringing people down when they are going to eat as they or I are going for a good relaxed and enjoyable experience as good and anything related to food is supposed to make you feel good and joyful. And to add insult to injury when I am asking for green chutney and mithi chutney the guy is asking me 65 cents versus when that hit served me the first time I went on March 17th,2025 and he gave me the green chutney and mithi chutney without any questions and without exchanging like this guy did as I told him that the young boy gave me these chutneys and all as I did not like so he literally really took all these chutneys and exchanged with me. And i needed lemon wedges wedges and i wanted to ask just like I do in other Indian restaurants but hesitant and fearful and me fearing that it will be an unpleasant experience where I will get hurt and feel down by this guy would want to charge me for lemon wedges just like he wanted to do so for the chutneys. But I just took great courage and asked lemon and he gave me one line wedge and I left it at that as I don't want to have an unpleasant experience and hurt where this guy will want to charge me if I ask for extra like or lemon wedges. So I took the one and squeezed as hard and made do in one lemon wedges instead of more lemon wedges. Anyways I would not recommend eating here eating here and besides I am having acidity. The best Indian food is the one that is cooked at home like how my mother makes it where the spices are balanced and not too spicy. Besides I would not even recommend eating outside in a restaurant outside home. It is best to eat home cooked food as it is fresh and healthy whether it be Indian or any other vegetarian cuisine as vegetarian cuisines or lacto-vegetarian cuisines without meat, fish and eggs are the best and healthiest and more so...
Read moreThis place is an absolute disaster and a disgrace to Indian cuisine. I ordered two frankies specifically requesting NO ONIONS and NO GARLIC—not once, but I said it TWICE to make sure they got it right. The girl at the front desk nodded and said, “Yeah, we can do that,” like it was no big deal. Spoiler alert: they couldn’t. It took a ridiculous 45 MINUTES for a simple pickup order. I was standing there, watching the clock tick, wondering if they were growing the ingredients from scratch in the back.
While I waited, the owner oh, let me tell you about this guy was holding court in the middle of the restaurant, puffing on his vape like he’s auditioning for a low-budget gangster movie. Clouds of vapor were literally wafting through the dining area, making the already grimy place feel like a cheap hookah lounge. He was chatting up two Rutgers girls he probably hired, trying way too hard to impress them with his “big shot” attitude, name-dropping and acting like he owns half of New Brunswick. Vaping indoors while customers are waiting for food is not a flex it’s disgusting, unprofessional and probably illegal. The whole place reeked of his vape juice and bad decisions.
To make matters worse the owner was right there when I placed my order. He heard me emphasize no onions or garlic yet apparently that information never made it to the kitchen. Or maybe they just didn’t care. Either way I finally get my food after what felt like an eternity drag myself home and open the bag to find my frankies LOADED with onions and garlic. Like they didn’t just miss the memo they shredded it set it on fire, and sprinkled extra onions on top for good measure. It was like they went out of their way to mess it up. I literally had to throw it away.
Oh and get this: the owner had the audacity to tell me that if I left a Google review, I’d get FREE fries. Are you kidding me? I don’t want your sad, greasy fries as a bribe for fake praise. That’s not customer service that’s sleazy, manipulative marketing straight out of a con artist’s playbook. I’m not here to prop up your ego or your failing business with a five-star lie. This isn’t Yelp extortion, pal—fix your damn restaurant.
The restaurant itself? Filthy. The tables looked like they hadn’t been wiped down since the Reagan administration and the overall vibe screamed “we stopped caring years ago.” Between the owner’s vape clouds, the glacial service and the complete disregard for my order this was hands-down one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. Nirvanis isn’t just a letdown it’s a public health hazard masquerading as a restaurant. Save your money, your time, and your taste buds—go literally anywhere else but DO NOT GO...
