Derek Simpson Goldsmith — Local services in New Haven

We are so in love with Derek Simpson! We bought our engagement/wedding rings here and had a lovely experience with the whole staff, from start to finish. We first came with very little idea of what we were looking for, and we were guided through an array of possibilities for an engagement ring setting. We e-mailed in some photos of rings we liked, and ultimately, Derek created a ring for us with petal-like prongs with individual small diamonds set in each petal. It looks traditional from the top but has unique detail when you look closely - exactly what we wanted. We also purchased my husband’s wedding ring there, and for my wedding band we used an old family ring, but they cleaned it up for us just to be nice. We were so happy with the rings themselves, and we also just loved everyone who works there enough that we kept visiting - even after our wedding, just to say hi...

My husband designed my engagement ring (from a family stone I already had) and decided to have the setting custom-made by Derek Simpson. Working with Gene and Derek went so well, and we were both immensely satisfied with the final result. We were excited to also get our wedding bands made by Derek, using the same materials as my engagement ring. We chose very simple bands and absolutely love them! The service we received from Gene and Lisa was impeccable, especially considering that we never lived in New Haven while we worked with them, but everywhere from Virginia, New York, and Quebec! I definitely recommend Derek...

My experience at this jewelry store was deeply disappointing. The sales associates are dismissive, and disrispectful. Instead of providing kind assistance, they project entitlement, disinterest and assist you in a rush, diminishing the shopping experience entirely. To make things worse, the store abruptly increased (doubled) the price of an item that I tried exactly 6 days before. A luxury store should prioritize professionalism, transparency, and courtesy. Unfortunately, this establishment failed...
