Plenty of outdoor seating, pleasant staff and an amazing menu to chose from. There were a lot of Yale families, as it was graduation week, and it was just great to see people out and about. I had dinner with a few friends, and all of our meals were delicious. (My friend's decaf coffee on the other hand was not good at all). I had a starter, Crispy Artichokes (lemon aioli, jalapenos, cilantro, red onions, ricotta salata) and it was just perfect. So flavorful. My main course was Sausage Tagliatelle (house made fennel sausage, broccoli rabe, garlic, basil pesto, chili flakes, parmesan cheese), and it was probably the freshest pasta I have had at a restaurant. Such a delicious dish! One of my friends had Grilled Organic Salmon (roasted potatoes, baby carrots, roasted baby beet vinaigrette), which she really enjoyed. My other friend had a pork chop with roasted carrots and some sort of pesto puree, and also enjoyed it a lot.

Harvest was one of my top favorite restaurants in downtown New Haven, but my last visit was so disappointed that we were left to see if we gave another chance in the near future. Two of my favorites were the cheese plater and Ahi-tuna tartare, and both were not closed to what it used to be. The cheese plater was just sad. The board was too big, and the cheese pieces were too big as well. The guava was just 1 piece for 2 people. Nothing like they used to. The Ahi-tuna tartare is smaller than the usual portion, and the flavor is not quite the same. I ordered the lobster salad, and there was no dressing to enhance the flavor and no one around to ask for some. Also, while we were waiting for the second round of our order, a couple sat down next to us and waited more than 10 minutes to get their drinks order, and they left. Busy Friday night under staff. I'm still thinking about another chance because I love the place.

If you want to go to Harvest, avoid restaurant week. I’m not sure whether there was something wrong that particular day or that they have no idea how to run a restaurant, but it was not good by any means. It took us 3 hours to finish a 3-course lunch. Enough said. Details like missing cutlery, cold dishes, forgetting requests, shows that this kitchen has no business trying to accommodate restaurant week crowd. Food was mediocre. Salad was probably the highlight, which wasn’t even impressive. The gnocchi was dull and dense, and the Nutella crepe was atrocious. I’m not sure that the crepe was even fully cooked, but by that time, we had endured 2.5 hours of terrible service and just wanted it to end. Considering such an amateur operation, the price they’re charging should be a crime.

Decided on Harvest for NH restaurant week yesterday and I wish I could say I would come again because I like the atmosphere outside and most of the entrees were good as well as our drinks but the service was horrific. Our server (did not get his name but he was an older, pepper haired, short, hispanic man, yes this description is for you, owners). Not once did he check on our table anytime we got any food, not a single time. Any time we asked a question he immediately would cut us off and answer as he walked away. The guy was ALL over the place that day running around for God knows what because the only thing he was doing was taking orders, giving people their drinks, and checks. The bussers were the ones who delivered food, cleaned tables, etc. We made eye contact with him COUNTLESS times during our stay and not once did he ask if we needed anything, he would just glance and pace away. By the end of the night we were so fed up with the long waits between ANY request (we asked for the check to come with dessert because he were so tired of being there and wanted to be out ASAP) but he did not give us a check and, you guessed it, had to ask for it. It arrived 20 minutes later, we all had our cards out to just hand to him so that he could immediately take them back and ring us out so we could finally leave but he literally put his hand up said "no, wait, i will be back in 30 seconds". He did not come back in 30 seconds, we glared at him as he ran back and fourth from a table to the register for the next 5 minutes. We finally went to the bartender and requested he charge our cards because our waiter is taking forever and we have a child outside with us who is getting cold. The bartender took our check to the register to ring us out and the server decides he wants to ring us up, pats the barternder on the back and I assume says he can handle it from. from start to finish we were there for over 2 hours. So because of this horrible service, lack of attention, we wont be back to Harvest anytime soon. Plenty of other restaurants to frequent in NH with servers who want to work...

My family and I visited this restaurant for Mother’s Day. The food was good and the ambiance was pleasant. As it was Mother’s Day, the restaurant was busy as expected. We sat for about 10 minutes before being offered water. A waitress later walked by and said she’d be right with us. Given the occasion, we expected slow service. About another 5 minutes passed before another waitress graciously came over to take our orders for drinks. Our waitress finally made her way over some 10 minutes later. I have nothing negative to say about the food, it was delicious. Portions were decent and overall a decent experience. The biggest flaw was our waitress. She was not the warmest person and seemed agitated by my family. Everything felt rushed. When I tried to engage her for recommendations or inquiries about meals, she seemed annoyed. The other wait staff that attended to us were very pleasant. We received bread when asked and the table was cleared pretty quickly after each meal. I make it a point to tip and tip well when service is stellar. I was very disappointed by waitress’s service and did not believe her service warranted much beyond the minimum. As my husband and I were leaving, we were stopped at the door by the manager and asked about our tip. We were queried about the amount and whether we were dissatisfied with our service. I let the manager know that I was greatly disappointed by the service. I tried to make the best of the lunch given the occasion, but this level of service was not worth my 2 hour drive from Massachusetts, especially seeing as there is a West Hartford location which is closer. My husband and I after being told our tip was not substantial more than tripled the amount of tip originally given and informed the manager of our dissatisfaction. I will emphasize that the food was good. The restaurant overall is pleasant, but I’m saddened that this waitress who clearly was having a good day as she seemed to be very friendly with other tables, ruined what could have been a...

Edit: January 2022, unfortunately this place is still a complete disappointment. Every item of food we ordered was awful. The lamb was order medium rare and came out well done. But even if it was cooked correctly the dish was not tasty in any way shape or form. The sauce was completely awful. We got served an old crab cake that smelled like such rotten fish we had to turn it right back to the kitchen. And the flavor in our other entree was so awful neither one of us could get through a bite. I tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt when it came to my last meal.. however this place has only ever disappointed us with it's food that I will never return.

Original post 3 years ago: Could not cook a single item correctly. Quite disappointed, but once the meal was cooked right it was delicious. Lamb lollipop appetizer was so over done. The chef did not know how to cook shrimp that's for sure. Even after sending back the seafood entree the shrimp were still chewy, way over cooked. First time the meal came out all of the fish was over cooked and even the rice too! Didn't know you could mess up rice, but it was crunchy .. yup crunchy! Totally disgusting. Ordered duck entree too and asked for it med rare. It came out well done, still good but not what I ordered. Sent it back and got the right cook on it and the meal was absolutely delicious. Definitely need some better chefs in the kitchen on a busy night because they couldn't handle the rush of people. Bartenders were great, very friendly and accommodating. The host was a bit rude though, definitely not inviting when you come in. A little tip for the host if you are booked and can't seat 2 people you should offer them to try to find a spot at the bar by the way instead of trying to send them out the...
