I had such a fun time today with Kayla! She started the ride by sharing about herself and gave us an inspirational message for the day: sometimes doing things that make us uncomfortable bring about great change and strength. That was definitely true for me today! I haven't been to a spin class since 2017. I'm out of shape and was nervous. JoyRide was way better than the old studio I went to which had everyone's times displayed on a TV in the front and someone "won" the class (demoralizing to say the least). I also liked that we used dumbbells and worked our arms too! I was not expecting that.
I wish the subscription options were more flexible. I have a senior dog and hesitate to commit to a monthly subscription, knowing if I miss a class it wouldn't roll over and I'd be out that money. I have a rough work schedule, so there's few classes I could make to begin with. That said, the $30 per class is reasonable and I'm working it into my budget to make this a weekly thing! Already booked my next class.
If you're looking to try spin but nervous, I highly recommend...
Read moreClass and studio are wonderful. Took a class with Heidi and she is high energy, but in a good motivational way. Class lights a dimmed during class and you can ride as you need based on fitness level. There are no metrics, so the ride is based on perceived exertion. Will certainly be back every time I'm in New Haven. Few points about the studio:
they provide shoes with spd clips, though I believe you rent them individually after the first class. If you have shoes with delta clips and want to use them bring them with you, and make sure you're on a bike that is compatible by calling ahead of time as I think some bikes do not have that compatibility. You might be able to use regular shoes as well, though I'm not certain about that. You should use cycling shoes of some sort in any case and the instructor will help you clip and setup your bike in if it's your first class.
Locker area is provided in the dressing room with a key that you can keep on your wrist.
For the men's room, they have a single shower with towels, shampoo, conditioner,...
Read moreThis place is incredible!! I was able to get a sweet groupon for this place which is really convenient distance to my work - and it was everything I ever needed and more! All the staff and instructors are incredible polite and accommodating. They even have shoes for you to use if you want to clip into the bike - which is so helpful. And the instructors will even help you get them in place. The bathroom is very clean and even provides toiletries which is really nice. The instructors are PHENOMENAL! My favorite by far is Leon! His Monday 6:30 classes have the best music; especially his mash-up classes. Some I've been to thus far: Usher vs Ne-Yo, Britney vs. Christina, and even Drake vs. Lil Wayne. His music gets really loud (He warns you!); but his style is really motivating, and keeps you on beat. His class can be tough, but ultimately so worth is as you really put in what you want to put out. He is also just super friendly and I love his instructing style. The sessions are what you make of it and I can tell you it's worth...
