If I could give this restaurant 0 stars I would. My friend had made a reservation for 9:15 pm. Upon arriving and calling in before coming in, the restaurant said they didn’t see a reservation under his name or that time frame on their end, okay. But they said we can come in and get seated within the next few minutes. Upon arrival, my friend explains to the host that he had made and confirmed the reservation for 9:15, and the guy talking to us (didn’t get his name but assumed he was the manager) looked at my friends phone and then down at his watch and rudely said “that is for the 17th not the 16th that’s why it didn’t show up” (as if that’s not an honest mistake). He then looks at my friend with this shameful look as if he was trying to argue and right then and there we could have left, but we still decided to try the place out. Drinks took over 15 minutes to get to the table (2 simple cocktails). We had ordered 2 appetizers and only got one. After asking why we hadn’t got the other one after waiting for 25+ minutes, that is when our server finally decides to tell us that it isn’t available. We ordered the paella mariscos which took a while to come out as well, and it was so bland. It needed so much more seasoning and it almost felt like a joke. But regardless I could have looked over the food and forgiven it on it just being a busy weekend (valentines day weekend) but I just had to write a review to let other patrons of color to beware! Me and my friend were definitely not treated like other patrons, while the manager or whoever this man was was trying to argue with my friend over his honest mistake, he was saying goodbye to other patrons as they left. But when we left he didn’t say a word, that was the final nail in the coffin for me. Take your money to somewhere else that is way more committed to better customer service and genuine commitment to client’s experience, this place was a joke and I will tell everybody I know not...

If customer service was a restaurant, Barcelona is it! We were visiting a friend in the city and he recommended doing tapas to try different things. He suggested Barcelona and talked proudly about their brussel sprouts. However, when we got their our waitress said they no longer had them. She could have stopped there. Instead, she said she'd asked the kitchen what other vegetables could they prepare like the brussel sprouts. Then, she brought out a complimentary order of leeks for us to taste. THEY WERE AMAZING. My friend asked if they still did half bottles of wine on Sunday. They no longer do but she brought a sample of a wine she recommended. Meanwhile, a female manager came out to apologize for not having the brussel sprouts and wanted to know if we'd enjoyed the leeks. The waitress came back to check on us several times and was so super sweet. My friend was simply asking if they still did the drink chips for completing the survey. She was like, we are 3 for 3 on not being able to fulfill your request; let me get you a free dessert. She left to get the dessert and another manager, Kenneth came over. He'd found some tokens and gave them to my friend. He not only brought the chips over, he took the time to talk with us about some of the changes they've made. He also talked about life, kindness, and customer service. When the waitress returned with the cake, thanked us again for coming and kept the most polite disposition. They didn't have to do ANYTHING, and we weren't looking for them to. But they went SO above and beyond, and it was all proactive. This was by far one of THE BEST experiences I've had and I can't say enough about how great Barcelona is. I'll...

Went on a Friday night - it was packed and bumpin’. Decided to have a nice dinner out with my girlfriends since we were all new to the city. One of my friends got our names down at 7:22pm ish. She was told it would be a 45 min wait which we were happy to because we were able to snag a seat or two at the bar. Long story short : we felt as though they had forgotten about us. My friend who put our names down checked in at the 50 min mark to get an updated and the person standing at the host stand apologized and said it shouldn’t be much longer and gave her two tapas tokens. At the 1.5 hrs mark I decided to ask again just to get an update, I was told the same thing that it wouldn’t be much longer. In all, what we were told would be a 45 min wait, ended up being 1h and 45 mins. I do understand it was busy but I don’t think a time range should’ve been given in the first place if no one was going to follow up with it and moreover, have the wait time almost double. We felt as though we weren’t even on the list because they had to scroll and scroll for my friends name.. Once we were seated , our server and hostess were prompt at getting us drinks and taking in our order. The food was quite delicious. They have quite a selection of tapas ranging from meat and meatless options. The portions were a decent size for tasting. Highlighted plates for our group were the pork belly and the croquettes. The managers (joe and romir) both checked in and were apologetic for our wait which we really appreciated. Although our experience started sour, it ended on a sweet note and has us wanting to come back for...

My husband and I went to Barcelona last night and we will definitely make a point to return. Kenny, the manager made sure that we had a huge range of choices even though we got to the restaurant at around 10:30 p.m.on a Tuesday night after a concert performed by my husband’s string quartet at Yale. Musicians typically do not eat a full meal before concerts so to be able to find a place that was open and has such a satisfying and range of delicious choices was a godsend. Since the pandemic, restaurants are closing earlier, even than what is posted on websites. I had called earlier to see if Barcelona would be able to accommodate us. Kenny could not have been more welcoming assuring me that he himself (!) would stay to make sure that we had a place to get some food for my husband. We had a delicious meal of garlic shrimp, seared shishito peppers, charcuterie ( that had a cube of delicious quince ), carmelized onion hummus, potato bravas along with a delicious Smoked Sherry Manhattan for my husband and a well-curated and thoughtfully explained wine “flight” of three “high acid” wines for myself. Along with Sally’s APizza Barcelona will now be a New Haven food destination for my husband and I as Kenny, with his passion for the food and drink, coupled with his warmth and enthusiasm made a very special night for us. Thank-you, Kenny and Barcelona for creating a corner of Spain in Connecticut! *One last note, I noticed Kenny shook the Manhattan with a big amount of ice to insure the temperature of the cocktail. Life is in the details and Barcelona makes sure of the details!

4.3. A good experience all around, with some room for improvement. Having been to the Barcelona in Boston we came in having pretty high expectations. Food - pretty solid, as with anywhere some dishes better than others. Highly recommend the olives and the artichokes and trying lots of tapas. We also ordered the chicken and paella at our servers recommendation (he said it was life changing chicken) they told us it would take a half hour which was totally fine because everything else came out so, so quickly it was nice to be able to chat a bit. They have lovely cocktails and mocktails but the servers seemed really confused when bringing our drinks (granted it was a different server than the one who took our order). Service - attentive but confusing. We had multiple people greet us and ask the same questions. Lack of communication between the servers around who is taking care of what table. The service was really kind nonetheless, the food came very quickly (almost too quickly)! They offered more bread but it never came and the plates would be cleared the second the last bite was removed. Almost seemed like they needed the plates back! Atmosphere- the vibe here is good but some of the tables have less of a vibe depending on where they’re situated. Overall they make a really nice effort to keep the vibes positive and the space fun. iPads for the servers definitely take away from the experience in some ways.
