Strange Ways — Local services in New Haven

I’ve been ordering patches and pins from Strange Ways for years, and as a CT native have been to the storefront a handful of times. While the storefront is a joy—beautifully organized, with a welcoming atmosphere and friendly employees and in close proximity to lots of other fun New Haven shops—their online presence always wows me. They frequently update their website and are consistently adding new products online. They ship quickly with timely email updates. Their social media use is fun and looks to customers for feedback and input on store hours/shipping policies/merchandise. Perhaps most importantly, even as a small business, they have incredible customer service. I recently had a minor issue occur with a t shirt and they were responsive within 24 hrs and incredibly understanding despite the issue being out of their control. They helped me resolve the problem and were wonderful throughout the process. Their customer service is just one more reason it is a joy to continue to shop with them. One of my absolute favorite stops when I am in Westville. First off, you should know that Westville is the Brooklyn of New Haven. Secondly, if you visit Westville and do not stop into Alex's shop you have failed yourself. A trip into Strangeways will make you nostalgic, laugh out loud, and make you feel like you've instantly up'ed your cool status. The staff are helpful and sweet, and the inventory is creative, sassy, and fun. Grab a pin or a couple patches, and artist illustrated zine or card, or some candy cigarettes! An iconic selection of queer art! An iconic selection of queer gifts! An iconic crew behind the register! What more do you want? NOTHING. This place is a blessing to this state so keep your mouth shut if you think otherwise. And I can’t say that enough. If you think this store would not hear your discrepancy first and resolve it, don’t leave a review. They are a hardworking small biz angels. We are blessed in this state to have stores like this.
