I asked a friend to stop by New London store and pick up a T15 torx wrench. she called me and told me how awful the service was and I told her to get out of there. this was her text to me "I truly never met a more incompetent manager of a store that had no enthusiasm to help his customer and not make them wait a good 10 minutes to get the F out of his office. And then basically tell the customer he has no clue and that you're out of luck. And I even showed him online with a T 15 talk wrench was in said that it was in stock in New London at Harbor freight". this was 11am on January 4, 2024. I went back at 6pm. found the item but decided to see how I would be treated. went to the register and was told torque wrench isle 4. not what i need. "we call them star screw drivers". isle 6. nowhere on the set did it say "STAR SCREWDRIVER". very demeaning. asked him what time he came in . reply "I've been here 7 years". not what i asked. eventually got a straight answer 1pm. trying to figure out if it was one or two rude people that day. hit the jackpot - 2 different people were totally unprofessional. I walked out without the T15 and said I would find it elsewhere. I thought at first they just had no respect for women but after talking to other people it appears they just like humiliating their customers. I went to Johnson's Hardware in Groton. amazing service. "People often make that mistake between torque and torx wrench. is this what you need?" even found me a tool to magnetize the Torx wrench. will never step foot in New London Harbor Freight again. minus 5 stars for service. plus 5...
Read moreBig fan of Harbor Feight Tools in general. This location in particular is a good size and the staff very helpful and informed. The values at Harbor Freight range from great to incredible. To anyone critical of their tools I suggest you put things in perspective. If you want the very highest quality tool that's going to last you a lifetime you might get it at Harbor Freight, but given the prices they offer, if you want a guarantee it would be better to pay 10x or more with Festool, Snap-On, and the like. I'm not knocking these companies to the contrary I am suggesting that their products are superior and commend them for that. Most of the time Harbor Freight Tools do the job effectively. Personally, my strategy is to buy everything I need at Harbor Freight to start, and on the rare occasion something doesn't perform to my expectations, I replace that item at a different store upgrading to DeWalt, etc. Honestly it is a rare occasion. Overall it allows one to build a great tool collection.... At a price unrivaled, and the rare trade off of a subpar tool is remedied with the strategy above. In the end, for me at least, it is a highly effective way to build a great tool collection add an incredible price with a safeguard built-in to take care of the rare occasion an item from Harbor Freight doesn't work out. I am typically one that believes that you get what you pay for. Harbor Freight however gives a little more than you pay for in my opinion. Thanks...
Read moreWas picking up an order that my father in law had bought and had delivered from a Harbor Freight location in South Georgia. The supervisor working was extremely unprofessional, gave an attitude when I was explaining that I had the receipt via text message only. I had called multiple times over the week to find the anticipated delivery date and kept getting the run around from associates and the supervisor regarding the order. This was a heavy item and I needed to plan for people to be around to help. She tried to say that I had an attitude towards her which I did not. I explained that my name wasn’t on the order but the receipt had all the info. She could have verified by license or via a phone call with my father in law with his account. Extremely unprofessional, especially for a supervisor. Next time, I will drive to Norwich to purchase items...
