Zaxx Cabinets — Local services in New Richmond

Had a few issues with kitchen cabinets ($8500 order) and that is in process to be corrected. One cabinet was missing a shelf and when I called the Maplewood office they instantly jumped to the conclusion that the this particular cabinet did not come with a shelf. After I pushed the issue, I was told that the mfg. found the shelf. I wonder why I didn't get a phone call or e-mail stating that they found it, My main issues was on the sales side. The office I worked with was Maplewood MN. The primary issue was getting information. It was difficult to get them to share 3D models and stain colors so I could match our door, trim, etc. I was told that the stain color was proprietary and I had to take a door to have it color matched. Basically anything related to customer convenience was inconvenient. I have many remodel projects pending and I will think twice before ordering from Zaxx's in the future. I was going to get my counter tops from Zaxx's but decided to pay more else where to avoid the lack of customer service issues. The sales person I worked with knew the product well but anything to do with ship dates, 3D models or stain color was off limits as to any details.

One other odd thing happened. I was under the impression that Zaxx's manufactured these cabinets. That was my mistake for assuming that. I purchased from Zaxx's because I didn't want to give the order to the local big box store. When I was asked the owner, I was told that the cabinets are actually built by Country Cabinets. The odd thing is that I found a sticker in a cabinet that says it was made by De Pere Cabinet, Inc.

The delivery date was better than expected and cabinet quality was mostly as expected.

With some simple demonstrated changes to customer service I would consider working with Zaxx's...

I could not be happier with the cabinets I just had installed by Zaxx.

My house doesn't have a pantry. I had for awhile considered removing a north-facing window and installing extra pantry-type cabinets in my kitchen. When I had hail damage to the north side of my house, it was the perfect time to do it.

Ultimately, I went to Zaxx because they had done my cousin's cabinets. Sue in New Richmond was really helpful. The things that were really important to me, she listened. But she also gave me some excellent suggestions.

Their prices were very competitive. The timeline occurred as discussed. Communication was great. The installers were very conscientious.

The cabinets match my 10+ year old cabinets amazingly well. The quality of the cabinets is, honestly, better than my cabinets. The amount of extra space I have is amazing!

2024 UPDATE: 7 years in and we still LOVE our kitchen and the cabinets are still in perfect condition.

Short answer: We love our kitchen and are so grateful to Mike and the team at Zaxx for bringing our idea to life.

Long Answer: They worked with us so very patiently on floor plan, cabinet selection, counter-top selection, and stain/sealant selection. Installers did a great job - even when we asked them to move the island that was already bolted to the floor (our planning error), and the cabinets are beautiful and sturdy.
