Adama African Hair Braiding — Local services in New York

My first experience was ok. I got crochet braids. The cornrow experience was ok but she did the crochet portion a little too tight. The second experience was medium sized kinky twists. We agreed upon a price of $200 and they ended up being closer to lower back or tailbone length. She did the style and I was pleased even though I had to put a finger on each braid to prevent her from braiding too tight and tension. I reached out to her 4 weeks later to refresh my edges. I informed her via text that I would need anywhere btw 10-25 braids replaced ( I hadn't removed them yet to get a definite number). I did the takedown and actually only removed 12-15 braids and she had the audacity to charge me $100. Per this logic she should have redone half my head. I feel like she was being greedy because I tipped her generously previous times and she was heading off to vacation in her home country for 4 weeks. It took her a little less than an hour to refresh the few braids I took out and when I got home, I realized how sloppy of a job she had done. Hair was sticking out of my twists. I will never go to her again and I will patronize Harlem Natural Hair for my hair braiding needs. They wash, condition and blowdry before performing any braid service. I actually don’t like it AT ALL. For the price it’s crap. This why you don’t go to ppl you have not gone to before. Price 220 for bs work. I’m honestly disappointed. I highly highly recommend Adama!!! I called for an appointment the day before and was able to get an appointment for 5PM on a weekday. I was asked to Zelle her a $20 deposit to secure my appointment. The day of, she texted me at 4:30 to let me know she was there. She did not rush me nor do a sloppy job. Adama was respectful, patient, she compared hair colors with me in the beginning & often asked me if she was going too tight as she was braiding.
