Very unfortunate that due to COVID I was unable to stay here. I had made reservations several months in advance and paid their required deposit. I knew there was no question that I would be going, but then the pandemic happened and needless to say, the conference I was going to attend was cancelled. I tried contacting the hotel (good luck trying to find a phone number), but resorted to emailing them instead. I never received my deposit back, which I would think they would as this pandemic was obviously out of my control, nor would they ever communicate with me one way or the other, I mean EVER. I never received any response to the several emails I sent. I would think they could at least say sorry they were not going to reimburse me regardless of the circumstances, but given the reason behind the cancellation (which I cancelled in April and the conference was to take place in August) you would think they would reimburse me or if they couldn't do that at least consider giving me a credit? I would have liked to stay there as it sounded nice, but I wouldn't consider staying here again, with the way they choose to run...
Read moreThis place is the next best thing to home. When I arrived, I received a warm greeting from the owner, James. After a brief conversation, he gave me my keys and assisted with my luggage to the top floor to my room. He was kind enough to have statrted the AC. The room was pleasantly cool and I loved the set up. The room was perfect! A very nice, comfortable bed with a sitting area, large screen television and bathroom with shower. All done with impeccable taste. There is a kitchen just steps away from my room with full size refrigerator, stove and microwave. On the first floor, there is a sitting area, dining table, compact refriferator and microwave. Free coffee and tea. The location was perfect. Short walk to the Subway, restuarants and many sights. One of my favorites was a brief walk to The Grange, the mansion of Alexander Hamilton in Hamilton Heights. So, if you ever want to spend some time and stay in Harlem, this is the place! The best sleep I...
Read moreWe loved staying at 255 West Guesthouse. Firstly, James was so wonderfully friendly and helpful - always available if we needed something, but gave us space too. ||The house is stunning - a beautiful old Brownstone. We had the front room at the top which was great to hear and watch the street. We loved lying in bed listening to the Sunday afternoon Jazz in the Legion basement opposite.||||We made use of the free french press coffee downstairs each day. The building is perfectly located between subways and bus stops so it's easy to get around and get in and out of downtown. Great restaurants too within walking distance. We loved Renaissance and the Manhattanville Coffee shop on W 42nd. ||||The room was beautifully decorated; the bathroom with double shower heads and lots of space. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks so much James. You and your premises...
