Let's start with some fun quotes:
"So why don't you go to Mount Sinai? Why did you come here?"
"We have no idea how long tests can take. They will take as long as they need"
"It is not our responsibility to inform the patient of expected turnaround time. You should have done your own research".
I wish I could give zero stars, but the 1 star is because the doctor is nice. I don't think he is competent, as he was unable to accurately diagnose the issue. Ultimately another doctor figured it out.
But doctor aside, the absolute horrendous incompetence of the front desk and management staff is the reason for this review.
The doctor ordered a regular blood test with a prolactin panel. The turnaround time for a lab test with prolactin panel is usually 3-5 business days. You can google this yourself to verify. After 10 days, we had no results. This was a matter of urgency because we were dealing with a potential breast cancer scare (for men). The prolactin test detects levels of elevated hormones.
Even after 10 days, there are still no results. The front desk had no idea how long this test would take and refused to offer a comparative benchmark. When I pointed out that other hospitals such as Mount Sinai have a quicker turnaround time with this test, the response was
"So why don't you go to Mount Sinai? Why did you come here?"
When pressed on the issue further, the front desk staff took no responsibility and kept repeating that this is very normal and cited various hypothetical reasons of why test results could be delayed, despite the urgency of the issue. Their strategy was to deflect and not take any responsibility for being unable to communicate clear timelines of tests. 10 days for a blood test is anomalous.
Instead of deflecting, they should have accepted responsibility and said something like: We need to do X panel on your blood, typically that takes Y days. Or like "Oh no! sorry that's taking so long, let me understand why".
We definitely won't come back again and recommend for those who seek transparency in their care and test results to also not...
Read moreFrom my experience, I think Dr. Rahman's only good if you're coming to him for very basic care like getting an annual physical or common colds. I had been experiencing knee pain for the past week and one day it was bad enough that I made a last-minute appointment with him. I got seen fairly quickly, but the appointment itself was super brief. I told him my symptoms and he just bent my knee for a couple seconds and told me he was going to recommend an x-ray and a visit to the physical therapist. I got the x-ray done locally near my neighborhood in Brooklyn because it was low-cost, and I was told he'd get the results in by Tuesday from them. I called twice during the week, on Tuesday and Thursday, and his receptionist was wholly unhelpful.
She just kept telling me that she'd put down a note to the doctor and I never heard back. I physically came into the office at the end of the week and the receptionist who I spoke on the phone with flat out lied to my face, telling the other receptionist not to tell me about my results and how Dr. Rahman hasn't looked at them yet. The doctor comes out himself and they're "whispering" about my case only mere feet from my face. It was infuriating that I couldn't get any information on my health and was going up and down subway stairs in pain for that entire week, not knowing what was up. He looked at his laptop and claimed to have never received the results - so why did no one call to alert me of that?? I was so fed up that I said I'd go to the x-ray clinic myself and pass on the physical results to this office, and never ended up actually reaching back to Dr. Rahman. I just wen to the physical therapist instead, who was much...
Read moreMy real review has been deleted, at least I can’t find it. Had a terrible experience about a year ago. I was owed money, and Dr. Rahman rushed me through one of my appointments around the same time. I decided to give the practice another chance, since it looked like new people in the front office. There’s always new people there, no one seems to stay there very long. So, after a year, someone on staff found my review. I went to Dr. Rahman for a regular checkup today, and I was confronted with my old review. I did eventually get my money back, but didn’t think to update the review, that’s on me. But based on my review from a year ago, I’ve been terminated! I got fired from my doctor for posting a negative review! If he had noticed the review when it posted, and we talked about it, I would gladly have taken the review down if I felt that everything had been handled. If you look at my reviews, you’ll see many great reviews of medical professionals who have treated me. Dr. Rahman’s treatment was generally fine, except for that one time when he treated me like someone he never met before, after me and my family had gone to him for many years. Ironically, my experience with the new front office people today was fine! They were friendly...
