I am not generally a person who takes interest in, or has time to write reviews of places that I eat, however, this experience was so terrible that I felt compelled to do so.
My three co-workers and I sat down for dinner there on a Sunday evening (10/27). It wasn't particularly crowded, I'd say, at most, 60% of the tables were occupied. The service and food was absolutely terrible. That is an understatement. I eat either lunch or dinner with my co-workers every single day in this neighborhood and we won't be back.
Our waitress made her disdain for us glaringly apparent at first contact. As my co-worker suggested, we should have taken that as a hint and left the place. We surmised this simply from her asking if we wanted to order drinks. She was outright rude, sarcastic and abrupt. She read the specials, rolled her eyes and walked away abruptly before we can ask any questions. My co-worker began to get the words out of his mouth to ask a question, and she straight up turned around and walked away.
She returned twelve minutes later to take our order, since she was busy taking the order of two separate tables that walked in long after us. Twice I tried to get her attention and she looked right at me and walked away. When giving her our order and asking a question about a menu item, the waitress answered with a nasty attitude that was noticeably a stark difference from her cheery disposition with the rest of her tables. I watched closely how she interacted with her other tables, and it was jovial, informative, and exactly how customers should be treated. She smiled for everyone in the room- for us it was stone face; she was the complete opposite. I suspect why, however, I will only write the facts of my experience here and not my own suspicions.
Our meals came and we requested cheese. The cheese finally arrived when we were nearly done. Thirteen minutes after we had gotten our food. It was one small bowl, maybe two tablespoons of cheese for a table of four. She placed it on the table and walked away. It took me another ten minutes to get her attention, request and receive my own cheese. By then, I had completely finished.
Throughout this whole ordeal, we did not have a carafe of water like every single other table did. Every-other-table in the restaurant did. Not only that, the waitress walked around and filled glasses multiple times for others and replaced the carafes when empty. Three times we requested water. Three times. The waitress came and went from the dining room multiple times, brought water to other tables in the interim and completely ignored us. We finally got our water after the meal was done and after we received the check. She finally gave us water when she brought the check and my co-worker demanded it.
The process of paying the bill took about twenty minutes. She put the bill on the table and walked away. No "thank you" or "how was your meal". Nothing. Not a word. It took forever to get her attention to take my credit card, then when she returned she gave me a pen that did not work. It took another nine minutes to get her attention to bring me a pen that works.
This was by far and away the worst experience that I've ever had in a restaurant. Besides the waitress who made her hatred for us glaring apparent, the food was lackluster at best. The portions were miniscule and over-priced. We left hungry. Four dishes of pasta and one appetizer of burrata (two small slices of bread with a burrata spread) - $100. Even by New York standards, this place portion size/price was ridiculous. The food that we did have was bland, on-par with that of a jar of Ragu.
I urge anyone and everyone to stay away from this place. I live and work in the community, I am not a tourist. I will spread the word as best I can. Right down the street is Sal Anthony where you can get a good sized meal, prepared by an actual chef who puts pride into his work, for a reasonable price. In fact, you could get a feast there for what this...
Read moreWe looked at this place to make a reservation for my sisters graduation. The food looked good and had a lot good reviews. We were excited to dine here because half of my family just arrived from San Francisco, California to attend my sister graduation ceremony. The food itself was delicious but the service was lackluster. When we sat down, The waitress Heather O gave us attitude and did not seem pleased to serve us. As an example, we had a guest who is lactose intolerant and wanted to ask about dairy products in certain dishes, and the waitress said, "I'm not asking you, I'm telling you" in a rude manner. Furthermore, certain guests did not want to order appetizers and wanted to order their main dish. She seemed displeased with our orders and annoyed when we asked her questions about the menu. It made the entire dining experience disappointing. The bussers often came to our table and removed our dishes, asked us if our food was to our satisfaction and even prompted a conversation with our table. The waitress barely made her presence known. The graduate herself was excited to celebrate her amazing accomplishment and when we left the restaurant, she felt saddened and disappointed. I only give it 5 stars because the food...
Read more@follianyc is a classic italian restaurant located in east village. They also have a bottomless brunch deal that includes 1 entrée and unlimited brunch cocktails for 90 minutes ($32). Aside from bottomless brunch, we noticed that the prices of each of the food items were cheaper compared to many places in the city!
ft: -brioche french toast: this was our favorite! it had the best fluffy texture, and the bananas on top were a great match. delicious. -eggs benedict: eggs were runny and the english muffin was toasted correctly. i loved it! -cobb salad: the first thing i noticed is that the dressing added the perfect amount of extra flavor and didn't go overboard. i loved the combination of ingredients in the salad. -crostini: came with 3: 1) burrata, olive oil and salt 2) whipped ricotta pesto 3)mascarpone and clover honey. each were slightly different from each other, and all tasted amazingly. i definitely liked the mascarpone and clover honey. it's such a simply dish yet so delicious.
