A Comforting Corner in the Heart of NYC ★★★★★
Gramercy Kitchen, a charming corner diner in bustling NYC, serves as my usual pit-stop following a grueling workout at Chelsea's Barry’s. Its offerings never disappoint; I frequently opt for their fresh grilled chicken salad and a traditional diner cup of coffee which is an acquired taste – its flavor transporting me back to the memorable coffee sips at Denny's from the '90s, reminiscent of a simpler time.
A standout feature of Gramercy Kitchen is its exceptional staff, delivering service that goes beyond mere professionalism to create a comforting and friendly atmosphere.
However, there's an elephant in the room: the recent spike in prices. This is less a criticism of Gramercy Kitchen and more a reflection of NYC's inflationary trends. My latest tab for a chicken Caesar salad, a cup of coffee, and avocado toast and a zucchini stick appetizer (inclusive of tip) sailed north of $80. While I understand the fiscal realities of running a business in today's economic climate, the high price tags combined with the itemized additions felt overwhelming.
Paying $5 extra for credit card transactions or $6 for less chicken than usual on an already $20 salad, may create a perception of nickel-and-diming. As someone who staunchly supports small businesses and NYC, my suggestion to Gramercy Kitchen would be to consider integrating these costs into the base prices and don’t substitute the quality. A subtle change in billing practice could significantly improve the overall experience.
That said, I am still a big fan of Gramercy Kitchen. Despite its recent steep prices, its comforting atmosphere, excellent service, and tasty meals make it a must-visit diner in the city. My continued patronage speaks volumes about its quality, and I look forward to many...
Read moreWe went to Gramercy to try and visit another spot but find out they have a B health rating we found Gramercy Kitchen who proudly displays their A. Their location was great along with their speed. We were able to walk right in without any kind of reservation. I decided to go for the sausage omlete with the home fries and English muffin. I ordered a cookies and cream milkshake which was served in a cute little Mason jar mug. The only thing I didn't find too cute was the price for the milkshake a whopping $6.50 for only 12oz. The milkshake itself tasted pretty good although it was more milk than ice cream definitely not thick at all. Bathrooms were unisex but definitely clean. The food was decent but nothing to rave about. Both omelettes were pretty dry and any cheese would have been extra. Fries were just not good and seemed like they weren’t cooked properly and as a matter of fact differ from the picture displayed in their window. Space inside is tight with everyone crammed in the tiny area and you'll likely be sitting back to back to the next table. We asked for some salsa or something else to go with the omelette but was simply told that they didn’t come with that. Cups were not particularly clean and I definitely had lipstick left over from a previous customer. We had to ask for water refills and at no point did anyone ask us how everything was. The biggest thing that bothered me was after he brought us the check he continued to come back several times asking if we were ready. I think overall there’s a lot left to be desired for this place but they were quick for us. I’d maybe give them another try but there’s so many different options around so you’ll have to take your chances and see how Gramercy Kitchen...
Read moreI have been here three times, and each time that I have had a meal here, has been beyond my expectations. The two past times that I have been here were for breakfast. Yesterday I decided to order dinner items. I opted for a cheeseburger with cheddar cheese and sauteed onions with a side order of Sweet Potato Fries. It was an excellent burger, cooked to my specifications. For dessert I ordered a key lime cheesecake, which was delicious. If you are ever around 17th St and 3rd Ave in Manhattan you should stop by and have a cup of coffee or tea, breakfast, lunch or dinner or an appetizer and glass of wine or beer. I continue to go here for brunch, as I love their home fries, scrambled eggs , corned beef hash and silver dollar pancakes., or homemade soups, such as Yankee Bean Soup, Chicken with Rice or French Onion Soup. I continue to go to Gramercy Kitchen, as I always enjoy having a great cup of coffee, and having pancakes, or scrambled eggs with Homefries and a side order of sausage links. It's a relaxing place to unwind., with a glass of Pinot Grigio and a dessert. Most of the times that I have been there, I have had a wonderful server by the name of Inesa. She is always very friendly, helpful and always has a pleasant personality which is always a plus for me, when choosing a...
