Ā Ā Ā Read moreNormally I have a great time at AMC Lincoln Square. I have AMC A-List so I'm there almost every week seeing something if there's anything worth seeing.
However, tonight my experience was ruined by a staff member who tried to kick me out of the theater. I went to see The Accountant on Friday. I booked my tickets the night before to make sure I didn't miss it opening night. It was my own fault, but I ended up accidentally getting a ticket for Thursday night (the night I was booking) instead of Friday.
At the theater, a couple who had the seat I was in shared some very valid confusion as we saw we both had tickets for H14. We quickly resolved the issue because there were several seats open and they sat next to me. No issues at all.
Then, for some reason, minutes later, an off-duty staff member came from across the row to yell at me and demand I give up my seat and leave the theater. The couple next to me said everything was fine. It was only then, after he took my phone from me to see my ticket, that he discovered after maybe 2 minutes of close digging that my ticket was for Thursday, not Friday. I had been scanned in fine and assumed everything was OK, and tried to explain how it must have been a mistake I made while ordering tickets late the night before.
This didn't matter to the staff member, who cared more about my seat than the couple did. He called me a liar to my face about 5 times. Every time I explained it was an honest mistake, he just told me I could stop lying. It was so upsetting. It's hard to convey how rude, offensive, and disrespectful he was being, but he had some really negative energy.
Didn't really enjoy myself that night. Normally I have a great time and the staff is awesome (especially that one guy scanning tickets). This was the polar opposite. I've never seen that guy before, so I'm sure I'll never see him again, so hopefully I can just continue enjoying AMC Lincoln Square...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhile the imax screen is literally the best in the entire us I gotta say 70mm didnāt really add much to the movie. Iāve been hearing how amazing 70mm is for months but asides from the black specs on the screen I noticed no difference in resolution. Overall I was still very happy with the 100ft screen but not 70mm. I gave it a 4 star cause the imax seats are terrible.
I was still ignorant about imax when I wrote this review, after writing this review I now know imax 70mm film is and have seen Oppenheimer, tenet, dune part 2 and joker folie a deux in 70mm film. I just went to the Dolby cinema here for the first time, it is not worth $27. The seats are super comfy but the screen is pretty small and it still had black bars on, if the movie is playing imax thereās no reason to go to Dolby cinema since theyāre the same price.
Also it should state if the seat your choosing has a limited view, when I leaned all the way back at the seat I chose the rail would block half of the screen I wouldnāt have chosen that seat if it said it obstructed view. Dolby cinema should exist for movies that donāt have a imax showing if that was the case Iād understand the existence of Dolby cinema.
I drove 5 hours to see one battle after another, Lincoln square IMAX 70mm film is always amazing. The teaser for the odyssey that played was crazy. For my first review about Oppenheimer I just think it was a bad first IMAX 70mm experience since it only had 40 minutes of 1:43:1 out of a 3 hour movie so I couldnāt really get a full grasp of the screen, but after Oppenheimer I have seen 9 movies on 70mm film...
