Three stars because although the food was good overall, the service left a bit to be desired, and the pasta was cooked strangely.

I came with a date, and the restaurant wasn't busy. There wasn't someone to seat us right as soon as we walked in, and our waitress never smiled and was cold. Bread was slow to come to the table (I had to ask, was not automatic which I'm used to in an Italian restaurant) and my soda was slow to come to the table. Again, not a busy night, many empty tables. Waitress put food down on the table without saying anything. Strange and cold. Near the end of the meal, she just took away my bread without asking if I was done. By the time I told her I was still working on it, it was too late. We felt rushed and hurried. When I eat out, I linger and lounge over my meal and my company.

Pasta was cooked weirdly. Not entirely al dente. It was also kind of sticking together, like ramen noodles. Otherwise, food was very good.

I would come back, but hopefully to better service and I will order a...

SHOCKING EXPERIENCE!

Very nice restaurant, food was tasty, service was good without any extraordinary experience. The show started once we paid the bill. We did not have a lot of cash, about 6-8$ what was about 10% of the bill value what we gave to the waiter. The waiter made a big scene in front of the other Clients that our tip was below expected 18% gratuity limit. I understand the disappointment and I made it finally up putting full gratuity on my debit card as I was not aware it was an option. Nevertheless it was so unprofessional, embarrassing behaviour and stressful to my daughter that I will never come back and will not recommend this place. It should not be acceptable and management of the restaurant should have taken the action but nobody really reacted. I felt like I robbed the place paying full amount. I want everyone to think twice before picking this place as this behaviour is below anything what we...

My wife and I decided on the spur of the moment to grab an early dinner at Il Violino tonight before catching a movie. Wow, was that a great decision! We've been in NYC for three+ weeks, and while we have not eaten out all that much, we have made the rounds to about 7-8 restaurants for late lunch or dinner. This was by far the best we have visited. The homemade pasta was terrific, and the flavor of the fettuccine con scampi all' arrabita was indescribably good. Preceded by appetizers of tricolore salad and grilled vegetables, accompanied by a terrific mid-priced pinot grigio, well, we were in "il paradisio." The tartufo was outstanding, the coffee was even great, and to top it off, the service was impeccable. (Did I mention that the setting, alongside the outside windows, was beautiful?)

There's no question this moves to the top of the list of reasonably priced date night restaurants for us....

After being seated I waited 15 minutes before the server asked me what I wanted to drink. She was very dismissive and looked at me wild. The menu she brought back was disgusting. The pictures I took don’t do it justice. I ordered a Caprese salad and some noodle dish with meatballs. The caprese salad was straight trash. Look at the pics. It’s Trader Joe’s precut mozzarella from a pack with very to little no olive oil or pesto. Then after that disappointment, I got severed spaghetti and meatballs. I cannot recall the dishes name but I know I didn’t order it. I thought about sending. It back but I got “ spit in your food vibes” from the waitress. The spaghetti and meatballs were not fresh and tasted like it was reheated. The tomato sauce tasted fresh… fresh from a can. I’m never going back again and would not recommend this to anyone… not even to someone I did not like.

It is a convenient restaurant to dine in when we're watching a performance in Lincoln Center or near Central Park. The family run restaurant was established in 1993 and serves great Italian cuisine. The ambience is warm and cozy, but it is not a place for romantic dining. The restaurant fills up quickly during dinner and gets very lively. The Risotto Al Frutti Di Mare and Scaloppine Di Vitello Marsala were both delicious. The seafood in the risotto was fresh, and the veal was tender and flavorful. The service was excellent. We ordered the Torta Al Cioccolato, which comes with a topping of vanilla gelato. The gelato of the day was Coconut Gelato. We asked if we could swap the gelato from vanilla to coconut. Our server acceded to the change. The dessert was super yummy. There is enclosed outdoor seating. Dinner reservations are strongly recommended.

A fantastic Italian experience with great food and service! Highly recommended. The greeter is very friendly, we got our preferred table and a great intro. Then our waitress was helpful, fast and friendly. All food and drinks were delivered on time. Excellent service. The Seafood linguini was very tasty, well prepared pasta with great flavor and plenty of seafood. The Gaspaccio Pomodoro was great for a very hot summer day (highly recommend to pair with Prosseco or Cold Beer). Burrata with Prosciutto was a great appetizer for 4. The risotto and the chicken Parmigiano were also very well prepared, with the risotto being the strongest because it gave us a great party of cheese flavors! We could not get to dessert, so we will come back soon and will do an update! Until then, a perfect score for a well rounded experience, service and food!
