Disappointing Experience at Babas Marketplace
I had a frustrating experience at Babas Marketplace, largely due to the unprofessional demeanor of the man behind the deli counter. A couple of times when I called in an order, it wasn’t communicated properly to him. Instead of owning up to the issue collectively as a business, he threw his colleague under the bus.
I even asked him a simple question about adding a common ingredient, and he went off on a rant instead of addressing my request.
Not only is that unacceptable in a food service environment, but it also creates a tense atmosphere. It's hard to feel good about eating food prepared by someone radiating such negative energy and this person seems to have that aura every time I see him. Because of this, I returned my sandwich and left even though it was already paid for. Just lost trust in this person handling my food moving forward.
I work for a large organization which operates 24/7 and I will be informing my colleagues of my experience there so that they may make a fair decision about whether they’d like to order from there. If you’re looking for quality service and a positive vibe, I strongly recommend not going there during the day.

Read moreSo far, so good. Sandwiches at the deli are delicious, but you may want to check what they are charging you with the menu. Clearly because this place is brand new, they are getting staff from other bodegas further downtown, who charge what they expect the sandwich to cost rather than what it says in the menu. All good if you’re looking for it, though, because your charges come up on a screen as they ring you up, so everything is transparent, a rarity at bodegas around here. Either way, I’m ecstatic to have this 24-hour option nearby. Columbia deli’s...
Read moreYuck! their food is lower than dog food quality. I got their rice and chicken, tastes like stale food is warmed over and over, and they add too much spice and food coloring to hide the stale taste and look of bad food. Everything in their store is overpriced and unhealthy. For the same price, go to Dig Inn, Panda , Chipotle or shop from Foodtown in 125th Street. This is the worst Halal food...
