After the recent passing of my immediate family member, a proud veteran, I was entrusted with fulfilling their wish to be buried with military honors. This was my first time planning a funeral, and with family members visiting from out of state who were familiar with Southern funeral traditions, the pressure to accommodate everyone's needs felt overwhelming. Fortunately, my search for funeral homes in Harlem led me to Bailey’s Funeral Home.
From the moment I met with Mahalia, any anxiety I had about planning the service began to ease. Bailey’s expertise with military honors and the National Cemetery for Veterans assured me I was in capable hands. Mahalia guided me through every aspect of the process, from finding a reverend and a church to planning the repast. She even suggested a local restaurant for catering services. What I appreciated most was Mahalia’s approach. She provided several options without making me feel pressured to accept any of them, and she was incredibly flexible with last-minute requests. Throughout the entire process, she consistently assured me that my wishes were heard, and she delivered on every detail.
On the day of the funeral, everything came together beautifully. The service, especially the choir, exceeded my expectations and delivered the Southern feel I hoped for. It was a heartfelt and memorable tribute to my loved one. I am forever grateful to Mahalia and the entire Bailey’s Funeral Home team for their professionalism, kindness, and unwavering support during such a difficult time. They made the process so much easier and ensured the service was everything we had hoped for. Their efforts were deeply appreciated and will be remembered...
Read moreFrom getting the shock of the sudden passing of our Mom to having to plan her homegoing, I immediately went on Google to search for a fast, efficient and caring Funeral home that understood how we wanted to lay our Mother to rest. I first contacted Bailey's funeral home and got the info immediately by email from Mahelia. We wanted to keep our options open, so we contacted four (4) other funeral homes and let me tell you, the info was not forthcoming and some didn't even offer their condolences or had a clue of what package offer we were looking for. During this time, Mahelia was in constant dialogue, still sending information though we had not chosen their services just yet. Later that day, my siblings and I decided to go with Baliey's simply because they were sooo professional. We worked with Mahelia every single day for the past 2 weeks. She was so considerate, efficient, patient and knowledgeable of exactly what we wanted. She gave great recommendations and even went above her call to take care of certain intricate details on our behalf. I cant thank her and her staff enough. The process was so smooth from beginning to end. You are a gem Mahelia and to the rest of the staff from Makeup, funeral director, organist and Pastor, we want to express our sincere gratitude in making this process so easy. We are well pleased with the execution. May the Almighty continue to bless you as you bless other families during their time of bereavement. THANKS A...
Read moreWhen my brother passed away on November 5th at a nursing home in New York at 1:15 am, we faced an urgent and overwhelming situation. The nursing home gave us until 8:00 am to arrange for his body to be picked up, or it would be sent to the medical examiner’s office. Living in Texas and unfamiliar with New York funeral homes, we turned to Google and came across Bailey’s Funeral Home. Their history of being in business for over nine decades gave us confidence, so we called them at 3:00 am.
From the moment we spoke with them, they told us not to worry and reassured us that they would handle everything. That immediately lifted so much pressure off our shoulders. From that day forward, they were by our side every step of the way, helping with all the arrangements and ensuring everything was handled smoothly.
Bailey’s Funeral Home is truly full-service, offering everything you need during such a difficult time. Mr. Benton, Sue, and Mahalia were incredibly personable, professional, and a joy to work with. They even helped coordinate my brother’s burial at the national veteran’s cemetery on Long Island.
If you’re searching for a compassionate, experienced, and reliable funeral home, I cannot recommend Bailey’s Funeral Home enough. You will be in good hands entrusting your loved one to their care. Thank you, Bailey’s, for everything you did...
