You may do quality work but the way you handle children is a disgrace. Today they locked 3 pre teen little girls in the store because they thought that they didn’t pay for their nails ( let’s be clear only one had any nail service today the others were waiting for her ALL COUSINS! ) the little girls mother clearly paid for the service via Zelle with receipt in the little girls phone via FaceTime . They didn’t won’t and or accept the fact that she paid and they wanted to be paid again. They held the girls hostage against their will for over an hour. They spoke with the parent over the phone and with her receipt of purchase via Zelle and they still held the girls against their will. They wouldn’t allow anyone in the salon to leave and or enter. Well, let’s just say not until the mother and the grandmother came And shut it down. They had nothing to say what so ever when they realized who the mother was and she is no longer a faithful patron of their establishment after that. Watch how you treat people! I know after what I experienced today I’m done with...

I paid $75 + $20 tip nude based chrome nails. I sat with Julie. I was referred by my sister’s friend and it was a bad experience. I was charged an extra $5 for taking off previous manicure. I didn’t get to soak them off but rather Julie cut off the tips and used an acrylic nail to tear off the rest of my manicure. I took the advice of the front desk girl because I wanted lavender color chrome nails on nude brown gel but they’ve never did it before. The color I picked looked more silver than lavender so I fixed it at home. But the experience was terrible. I tip $20 bc I’m a nice person but I will not be returning. The nails were done in a rush as if she didn’t want to do my nails and gaps between my cuticle and manicure gives me the impression that my nails are growing out of the manicure. I’m more upset at the service than the color. For the price I paid it was NOT worth the experience. The front desk girl was polite and patient with me. I’m probably going to have redo my nails next week. Overall...

I frequent this establishment every two weeks for both my fingernails and pedi until I was very rudely disregarded. I entered the salon at 5:45 on a Thursday and stated that I would like a gel pedi and fill in on my fingernails. I was provided pedi right away and sat down for all of 5 minutes to wait for Tina to do my nails. It had to be about 6:30 by now so I asked Tina how many people were before me because I wanted to soak my nails off. In the past when I would request a soaking off Tina preferred to slide a metro card between my nail and the acrylic nail WHICH I DESPISE because it not only rips layers of nail but it hurts!! (The last time I went in for Tina to do my nails I waited for over 2 hours.) This time I thought let me be proactive and kill time and get my nails soaked of properly. Tina set me up at the soak station and even kept coming to file off the acrylic in order to speed up the soak process. Fast forward to about 7:00, Tina starts another customer’s nails. I was just about finished soaking at 7:20 and some woman that I noticed standing near Tina approaches me to advise me that Tina could not service me and that I would need to come back the following day because the shop is closing at 8. I was confused and ask why couldn’t Tina tell me this information herself and why wait until now to tell me this when I’m waiting to finish getting my nails done. Tina never makes eye contact with me and no one ever apologizes. I was then asked by the ā€œwomanā€ if I wanted designs. Of course I said yes, I show a photo of what I wanted and my phone is passed around to about 3 nail techs. I was then told Cindy could do my nails. Absolutely not, not when I have been coming to Tina faithfully. There was utter silence as I was ignored repeatedly and simply told that the shop closes at 8. I decided to leave and I have no intentions of ever returning to this establishment. This only goes to show you that Asians care nothing about the people that they serve and only care about our $$$

Shiny Nails is one of the best nail salons I’ve been going to in NYC. I’ve been going for over 2 years and they never disappoint. They are affordable, patient, efficient and friendly. Most of the poor reviews left on here seem to be left by people who were first-timers who were extremely rude to the staff and had unrealistic expectations of what affordable nails done in Harlem should look like, which is a common experience there! I always leave satisfied. There nail techs are all bomb, ESPECIALLY JoJo and Tina (honorable mention: Cece). I usually just show them a pic from Jojo’s Instagram or a pic I found of nails that I like on the internet and they match it! I always get compliments on my nails and designs when I go here. The pedicures are also quite nice. Spa pedicures are my favorite. I don’t have many pictures beside a recent acrylic set I got done by Tina.

I had my nails done by two male nail techs today (not the young one with highlights). This is my nails for 106 dollars. They did white on foot and hand. The toes still have uneven polish and nail length, although I tried to point them out to be fixed as i noticed. The skin under my nails was chopped up and not completely removed. My manicure was worse with different shape and length of the acrylic. Both were not sensitive for my sensitive cuticles and continusly ran over them with the drill bit! Until I pulled back and raised my voice. USE ONLY WOMEN NAIL TECHS AT THIS SALON AND YES I PAID FOR MY NAILS NO TIP. Will not return.
