Brenman's Meat Market — Local services in New York

This review is not about the quality of the products at the store as it is generally good. Of course some days the meat is better than others, very rarely do we have to throw the meat out as it is bad meat. But this review is about one of the employees that works here. A man named Luis. He was recommended by the owner as he is very handy and does a lot of home repairs/improvements. We had him do several jobs. He is affordable and did some jobs good but the bad things are too bad to make him a person I could recommend. We recently had a plumbing issue but did not use Luis and the licensed plumber that we used said the person(Luis) who installed a pipe did not install it the right way or with the right material. This was discovered after coming to our home for another issue. This job wound up costing us hundreds to fix Luis' mistake as the plumber said if it does not get fixed it can cause a huge flood causing major water damage. Things in our home also went missing on two separate occasions right after Luis was in our home. I suspect he may have stolen from us. I know he returned a $500 part that he said was needed for a job and then later said we did not need it after all as he was able to fix the issue without it, so he returned it, we paid him for that part and he did not give us the money back for it so that is definitely crooked. He claimed we did not pay him for it. When we would make phone orders to have food delivered and he was the person taking our order that day and the total of what we owed seemed to be way lower than it should have been so essentially he kind of even stole from his job unless it was an honest mistake. We told him it's too low and he said no. He seems like a jolly guy at times but he has a bad side to him as he does not do all jobs correctly and takes the cheap and easy way out as well as stealing from the people he does jobs for. Be careful if you use him for home projects. I believe he has a drinking problem as well and he may steal and do crooked things when he needs money for his addiction. As a Chef specializing in meat I can say that this is the BEST BUTCHER SHOP IN THE AREA!! I got 2 52oz porter house steaks, worthy of any steakhouse restaurant! Due to COVID 19 I rather cook at home, then risk dining in public. Nice butcher that understand what he is doing, explaining to customer how to cook the cut of meat they are purchasing, asking if you like to cut of meat, before he (the butcher) cut it, how thick you like it, and after the butcher had portioned the steaks, he trimmed extra fat and wrapped it in individual paper and bags, such respect for the meat!! I would give this place 10 stars if I could. I have been using this butcher for years now whether catering for a party or just to purchase dinners.Their food is top notch,fresh and delicious.They are so good that when I do purchase chicken cutlets somewhere else(which is a rarity) my kids will taste and automatically say "these aren't from Brenmans". I'm telling you the best i food and friendliness of everyone who works there....
