Peaceful and relaxing park and trail. They have an information centre ) which was closed because of safety purpose during virus outbreak), a lot of bunches under the trees - that is really nice in hot and sunny summer days. If you come to opposite side of lake you can reach the beach (not good for swimming reason if any) but just to stay close to the water - you can see a lot of holes where crabs are hiding. But trails along this side of lake (west) are not good for walking - its can be really mugy. I hope to see a lot of birds but I saw couple of ducks far away and one crane. If you have a choice to choose between this place and Jamaica Bay Wildlife refuge for example, Jamaica will be much more better choice. But if you you live close it's very nice place to go outside and get refreshing. Very convenient to get...

Renovated 2013 best park have an active adult Senior Center good exercise activities for adults and children. More challenging nature walk with kayaks for rent. A unique modern Park design that almost lets you feel that you are not in the city. The Carmine Carro active adult Senior Center is and unique Senior Activity Center. While many activities may not be suitable for those that are handicapped there are enough to keep the Mind challenged. Modern and air condition for full-year use. Most of the park is fully handicapped accessible. Park also extra convenient with free parking available in several areas. Many baseball fields, handball courts, maintained tennis court, and golf. Excellent Recreation for...

The Salt Marsh Trails is an easy and enjoyable hike, perfect for beginners or anyone looking for a relaxing walk in nature. I'd consider it a level-one hike with beautiful views along the way. It's just over a mile, making it very doable for kids and teenagers as well. Before this, we tried some of the harder trails nearby, which I'd recommend doing with a partner for safety. This trail is a great choice if you're new to hiking or just want a peaceful, scenic experience. Also the Salt Marsh Nature Center is nearby for bathroom and educational on plants and the insects...

Yep, that about sums it up! Just kidding…sort of. I’m sure you’ve seen reminders to practice Leave No Trace, but that’s a pretty broad statement! Things like littering and carving rocks are probably no-brainers, but it really does go much deeper than that. Over the years, I’ve continued to learn how to change my own behavior for the better. Let’s break down the 7 LNT principles and what they meanšŸ‘‡šŸ¼ 1ļøāƒ£Plan Ahead and Prepare. -Look into concerns/regulations for the area you’re visiting, try not to visit during peak times, navigate with a map or gps. 2ļøāƒ£Travel and Camp on Durable Surfaces -Stay on established trails and campsites wherever possible! 3ļøāƒ£Dispose of Waste Properly -Pack it in pack it out. -This includes dog poo and your poo if you can’t make a proper cathole. -It also includes ALL food waste. 4ļøāƒ£Leave What You Find -Don’t take rocks/plants/etc. with you or modify them in any way! 5ļøāƒ£Minimize Campfire Impacts -Use established fire rings, keep them small, and make sure you put them out!! 6ļøāƒ£Respect Wildlife -Give wildlife plenty of space and never ever feed them! Also keep control of your own pets. 7ļøāƒ£Be Considerate of Other Visitors. -Keep your portable speaker at home. Be kind to people you meet on the trail. This is not all-encompassing, but it’s the gist. If you’re new to the outdoors, I really urge you to look into these principles and where they come from. Did you learn anything new? What have you learned recently that helped you do better outdoors?
