Was lucky to win their lottery to camp here on a Saturday night early June. They had water and iced tea for us, a demo on fire starting (kids love that), a night hike, smores, and free use of their tents (4 people). The tent demo was pretty cool and makes me want to run out and get one it was so roomy. Bathroom access throughout the night was appreciated ha! The three Rangers Wu, Lena, and Erin was also nice and patient with the kids. Some drunk wandered into the campsite (back lawn area) with his fly down and Wu handled it like a pro. The few critters in nature itself I recall seeing was a turtle and cockroaches (who's signage specifically states they aren't able to climb glass lol). Pretty educational if you take some time to read the displays.
If you get in for camping, be sure to bring bug spray and another layer as it gets...
Read moreThey should care more about the wildlife then meaningless activities, what are they doing to prevent ATVs and cross bikes that destroying the nature and foot paths inside the water mars park? And what do they do about the domestic cats that mass killing the wildlife in the park? I have visit the park almost daily now for 4 years, and what I see its scary and sad. Especially when I see the Park rangers who don’t care for more than what happening around the center and not what’s going on in the park on the other side. It would be easy to put up signs and barriers to stop ATVs and cross bikes to enter that part of the park, and they can lift up their butts from their chair and go out there in fine the who driving in the park. Its illegal by law to drive here, but they don’t do...
Read moreThe Salt Marsh Nature Center is very educational and definitely worth visiting before heading out on the Salt Marsh hiking trail. Inside, you'll learn about the different insects and wildlife you might encounter, which makes the hike even more engaging. They also post a schedule of activities like hiking and camping programs right on the door. A big plus is that they have restrooms available, something you won't easily find nearby. I really enjoyed seeing the turtles, snakes, stick insects, and more. Kids will absolutely love it here, so it's a great spot to bring the little ones. On top of that, the center offers beautiful views of the water and...
