Costco Optical Department — Local services in New York

I recently called for a pair of contacts since my glasses broke and will be leaving the country as it was an emergency situation since I won’t be able to see. I was told they would provide me with a pair when I called since I cannot see at all. When I arrived at the facility, staff continued to state it’s a liability to give someone who was seen by THEIR doctors whose eyes are diagnosed to be visually impaired a pair of contacts without being seen for a fitting since my prescription expired. It is arguable that the opposite is worse. A provider that does not provide. Absolutely horrendous experience. Optometrist is fresh out of college speaking on legality with no basis or findings. Do not go here for your eye appointments, they’ll let you go blind if they don’t...

Apologies to the doctor for this review because I appreciate a job well done. Having said that I booked an eye examination and was charged for a contact fitting without the service being discussed prior to being charged ($125) . I was unaware what a contact fitting even was. My insurance provider said that there was never a claim for an eye exam submitted and when she called to try to dispute the charge my insurance provider had said that she was yelled at and was told that I have had another representative call prior for the same charge which was a out right lie. Slowest service ever! Even DMV much faster than Costco Vision Center. Only 1 employee that spend more than 15 min for each customer. Spent 30 minutes in lane after Costco employee refused to serve me because I was in the wrong lane. But when I got there 20 minutes before, there is NO lane and no signs where it should be. 2 customers just left lane because of long wait time. I called a manager and 5 min later another employee served me during LESS than 2 MINUTES!!! I spend almost 50 min in Costco Vision Center lane and was served in LESS...
