The appointment process: As a new client, I could not have asked for a better or easier experience. I booked online and received an email confirmation which was followed up by a Cotter associate calling to review my appointment details, let me know they were a cash only establiment, and inform me a mask was required for all hair services (if I didn't have a mask meeting CDC guidelines they would provide one). Off the bat, they demonstrated a VERY professional appointment set-up process to ensure my time at thier shop was efficient and avoided any surprises.

The barber/stylist: Alexandr was the barber/stylist I chose online with zero insights about his skill or ability. All I can say is his experience was beyond expectation. I explained how I was growing my hair/where I like my fade lines, and he took it from there. He was very professional and focused on the cut with minimal talking, unless I chatted first which I respect a lot. Especially since the first cut is essentially a first impression.

The results: Alexandr gave me the best skin fade I've had ever since my last barber of over 10 years had moved out of state over 6 years. Alexandr nailed it the first time in his chair with his exceptional clipper/comb and scissors expertise. I definitely found my go-to barber! If you're looking for a clean cut Alexandr is the man!

I was looking for a new barber and just happened to walk past Cotter Barbershop. The decor and the friendly barbers made it an easy sell for me. I’ve been coming to see Ryan for the past month and a half he’s wonderful. His cuts are precise, detailed, and swift. He’s great with the razor and his hot towel treatment is top notch. He makes sure you get exactly what you want. But he’s also personable and a true gentleman it’s a pleasure being in his chair. The staff at Cotter are professional you walk into the barbershop you will see it for yourself. When you first step into Cotter Coffee/Barber you will feel lost. What did you walk into? Is it a vibey coffee bar? Is it a music lounge with smooth jazz undertones? Is it a boutique barbershop?

It’s Brooklyn so, of course, it’s all those things!

Alexander is a barber who minds the details. In his words, “I can do anything, darling, if you tell me exactly what you want.” I, having no idea what my post-COVID cut should be, combined with a latent desire to try a man-bun was probably not his ideal client. Still, Alexander persevered, I love the cut AND I don’t have a manbun, so really he’s a public hero.
